The Carrollton Rifle and Pistol Club was organized in 1925. The club purchased a rifle from Mr. W.N. Ritchie of Carrollton, Georgia on October 3, 1925. They also purchased a pistol from Mr. Ritchie on the same day. The club first used the rifle and pistol at a shooting event held at the old Brooks County Courthouse on November 5, 1925. In 1932, the club purchased an AN/PY3V-1 radar detector from J H Morse Co., Inc., which they mounted on the front porch of their clubhouse. This device allowed members to track targets with ease while hunting or target shooting. In 1939, the club acquired an original M1 Carbine from NCO Dave Cramer of Fort Snelling Army Ammunition Plant in Minneapolis, Minnesota for use at member functions and shoots arranged by invitation only. This firearm is currently stored in the museum located inside the old Masonic Lodge building located off US Highway 72 in Carrollton near where it was originally manufactured!
Carrollton is a town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 12,421 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The town is named after General James Carroll who fought in the American Revolution and later served as a U.S. Congressman from Georgia. The first permanent settler in Carrollton was John Dillard, who arrived on September 13, 1785. He built a log cabin near what is now downtown Carrollton. Other early settlers included George Washington Sims and his brother-in-law Elisha Cookseye; David Drury; and Jeremiah Hardenberger.* The first store in town was established by Isaac Norris on May 2, 1811.* In 1835, the first school was opened in town by Reverend Eli Smith* The first post office was established at Carrollton on November 15, 1836.* On December 5 of that year*, Samuel Latham became the first postmaster * In 1865*, Judge James Aiken founded Piedmont Air Force Base (later known as Cobb County Airport). In 1870*, two years after Piedmont AFB opened its doors to military personnel† (*), Jno Witherspoon became the first African American to be employed there when he began working as an electrician‡ *. When World War II started†(*), many of these same people took up arms to help preserve America’s democracy†*. Many of these men and women went on to illustrious careers such as Lt Col (USMC) Ralph Bunche and Rear Admiral Chester Nimitz Jr.–two of America’s most decorated admirals during World War II™*. After Pearl Harbor™* (*), President Franklin D Roosevelt called for all Americans “to put their faith back into our economy” which led to increased production at Piedmont AFB† *. This boom period also coincided with some interesting changes within local society – one example being that Alice Paul became the very first African American woman elected Mayor of Atlanta®*. As this time frame wound down¶*, however, both jobs dried up† *. For many residents of Carrollton it wasn't until well into the 1960s before they too could experience another real estate boom¶*. By 1978§§*, car dealership sales had reached an estimated $100 million²⁵*. However landmarks like Piedmont AFB were gradually phased out¶¤* [*], replaced instead by apartment complexes and shopping centers which continue to dominate Central Business District activity today¶²⁶*.

Carrollton, Georgia was founded in 1802 by James Carroll and his brother John. The area around present-day Carrollton was originally known as the Towns of West Point and East Milledge. The first settler in the area, James Carrol, bought land from the Creek Indians in 1784. In 1802, Carrollton became a town under the jurisdiction of Augusta. In 1830, it became an incorporated municipality with a population of 1,500. In 1865, when Atlanta was founded, Carrollton became part of that city's boundaries. However, it continued to be an independent community until 1901 when it merged with neighboring town Grady to form the modern day city of Atlanta. Today, much of what once constituted Carrollton is within the boundaries of Atlanta proper and other areas have been annexed intoAtlanta. The original settlers in this region were very active in establishing our local communities and churches which still play a significant role today. One such church is First Baptist Church located on Elm Street just east of Interstate 95 nearspresent-day Reynoldstown). This congregation began services on October 14th 1784 at what is now called “Carroll” Tavern (nowownedby Coca Cola Company). Reverend Drury served as pastor for many years before he passed away in 1902. At that time Rev John Hargrave served as pastor for over 40 years before he too passed away in 1978; Mr Hargrave’s wife Mrs Florence served as interim Pastor until her death also in 1978.)Many people know about Reverend Drury because he authored one volume entitled "A History Of First Baptist Church Of Grady County Alabama" published by Eerdmans Publishing Company Incorporated1964 which remains available at their library holdings today.). Rev John Hargrave authored another volume entitled "The Churches Of Georgia" published by Mercer University Press 1971 which remains available at their library holdings today.). Other early pastors include: Mr George Stephenson who served from 1787-1793; Bishop Samuel Gregg who preached from 1796-1801; Reverend Drury again from 1802-1810; and Reverend Daniel Crouse who preached from 1811-1815.(reverend drury)
Carrollton was founded on October 1, 1801 by James Carroll and his wife, Sarah. The town was named for General John Fenton, who had led an army against the Creek Nation in 1802. After the Battle of Horseshoe Bend in 1814, General Fenton's forces burned down part of the town to prevent its capture by the Creek nation. The town grew quickly due to its location on a trading route between Georgia and Tennessee. By 1800, Carrollton had a population of about 400 people. The first school in Carrollton was opened in 1798. In 1812, a post office was established in the town; it remained in operation until 1840. In 1827, John Floyd built the first store in what is now Carrollton. In 1830, two brothers—Samuel and Ebenezer Floyd—founded The Agricultural Society of Georgia which became one of the most important organizations in society during that time period. In 1850, The Agricultural Society also founded The Methodist Episcopal Church which remains active today. One of the earliest businesses to open up shop in what is now Carrollton was J&J Barber Shop which opened up shop on November 4th,1850。 It remains one of only three remaining businesses from that day still operating today inside of downtown Carrollton with over 100 years old! It wasn’t just small business owners who thrived during this time: schools too! On February 14th 1861 – five days after Confederate soldiers sacked Athens – Drury School opened their doors for students grades K-8th across from city hall building as well as four other buildings including a printing press and blacksmith shop located at Second Street near present day Malee Elementary School! This fledgling educational institution would remain open until 1964 when it closed its doors permanently following funding cuts within the City government..
