A few years later an electric line was laid down through town by William Cooke & Co., who built a substation on Depot Road east of center square which became operational on November 15, 1827. That year also saw the opening of what would be one of many commercially successful shopping centers in central Georgians when Mr. Troup opened his store at Second Street and Ponce de Leon Avenue (now Fourth Street). In 1870 Drury Heald purchased land east of Center Square from founder Samuel Coles for $4,000 for future development into what would become known as "Healdville". HeALDvilles included areas now bounded by Peachtree Street NW to the south; Atlantic Avenue NE to the west; Third Street SE between Constitution Avenue SW and Interstate 85/First Street NW;and Centennial Boulevard WNW between I-85/First Street NW and Ponce de Leon Avenue SW - this area currently borders Roswell Park Drive NE within city limits within boundaries today among other places namesakes including North University Drive NE - home of Georgia State University today - until then it had been part of Downtown Carrollton renamed East University Drive beginning with annexation by City Council on January 1st 1907 under authority granted by US Supreme Court decision Cherokee Nation v US 5 Cranch case decided December 15th 1886 . northeast corner 3rd St SE & Atlantic Ave
