In 1903, the Georgia Rifle Association was formed and began manufacturing firearms. By 1945, gunmaking had spread to Carrollton from all over Georgia. Gunmakers here produced a variety of pistols, revolvers, shotguns, rifles, and even machineguns. Over time, different companies emerged that dominated the industry: Winchester Arms Company (1906-present), Colt (1899-1945), Mauser (1895-1912), and Ruger (1892-1968). From 1898 to 1912, there was also a company called The Arsenal Manufacturers which manufactured handguns in Carrollton. Carrollton has been home to many firearm manufacturers over the years; however, today only two survive: Winchester Arms Company and Colt Firearms USA Incorporated. Both companies are headquartered in Springfieldville outside of Atlanta. While both companies have production areas throughout Georgia - including Carrollton - their main factories are situated in Fulton County in north central Georgia where they produce handguns for federal law enforcement agencies as well as military customers around the world.

Carrollton is a city in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 17,594 as of the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Fulton County. Carrollton began as a small community on the Chattahoochee River near what is now Midtown Atlanta. In 1875, Major General James Ewing and his troops laid out a town called "Mountain View" in what is now Carrollton on land that had been purchased by Captain William Hodges from the Cherokee Indians. The town was named after General Ewing's daughter, who married Colonel John Fenton Hill. When Atlanta was founded in 1847, this location served as one of its original neighborhoods. By 1870, however, Mountain View had shrunk to just a few homes and businesses and the name for the new town changed to Carrollton in honor of General Ewing's late wife (and namesake for nearby Midtown). During World War II, Carrollton played an important role in supplying food for Army camps across America. In 1944-1945, over 80% of all food production within Fulton County took place within five miles of Carrolton limits; this included nearly 60% of cotton crop production and almost 30% of all manufacturing output within Cobb County. In postwar years, many residents moved away from downtown Carrolton towards more suburban locations such as Dunwoody and Milton Hills while others established themselves around First Baptist Church which still dominates today’s skyline view. However since 2000 there has been an effort underway to revive downtown Carrolton with plans including renovation/updating of several streetscape features as well as creation or addition of new development along State Street corridor northward into Dunwoody and Milton Hills areas which have seen recent growth in their respective areas due to job expansion opportunities associated with larger MARTA commuter rail stations located adjacent thereto

Carrollton is a city in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 25,521 at the 2010 census. Carrollton is named after General Andrew Carroll and his men who fought in the American Revolution. The first settlement in what is now Carrollton was made by Captain James Caldwell and his wife on April 12, 1786, when they laid out a small claim along what is now State Route 309. They named their new town after General Andrew Carroll of Virginia who had fought against British forces during the Revolution. In 1827, General John Hillborough founded a post office at the site of present-day Carrollton and began issuing stamps from that location. On November 7 of that year, he became the first person to print currency using an alphabet press in Georgia. On October 9, 1828, Colonel Thomas Pemberton established a military camp called Fort Moultrie near present-day downtown Carrollton for use by Confederate forces during the Civil War. On December 5 of that year Federal troops burned Fort Moultrie to prevent its reuse as Confederate headquarters. On January 10th 1861, Confederate General Robert Ewell attacked Fort Sumter with 1st Alabama Cavalry Regiment led by Colored Major George Hogg from nearbyDecatur County while Union Brigadier General Nathan Bedford Forrest was away on duty at Spring Hill plantation northwest of Atlanta; this event became known as "The Battle ofatlanta." Aftermath saw over 620 killed or wounded including Montgomery Blair (laterGovernor) among others within 2 hours period making it one of largest engagements ever fought between armies on American soil up until then; however all Southsiders were denied entry into Yankees nation due to Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation which came later that day Preston Brooks wrote "It cannot be disputed but there were scores upon scores who died most sorrowfully under this gallant effort". The battle left much evidence behind such as war balls found throughouttrips today from Decatur County back to early 20th century Ala.; these balls served as souvenirs for visitors during antebellum times Thanks go also to current research by Dr David Boren Institute for African American History here at Emory University where ball studies are ongoing
