Carrollton is a city in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 5,812 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Fulton County and home to the University of Georgia. The city was founded in 1821 by General John Carroll as a trading post on the Chattahoochee River. By 1840 it had grown to become one of the largest settlements in southeastern Georgia. Carrollton is located at (33.760924,-84.612594). It can be seen looking southeast from Interstate 85 just east of Decatur as you approach Atlanta; its longitude, 33.7681°N, is better known than its latitude because it lies within 8 degrees of that point on Earth's equator (but well away from any major oceans). The Chattahoochee River forms part of the municipal boundary with Roswell and Alpharetta before reaching Carrollton proper about three miles downstream from downtown streetscape boundaries including Pryor Road and Glenwood Avenue near Lake Lanier while also forming a loop around Decatur Creek which provides water for local wells generally northeastward through town to renamed Park Drive until it empties into Chattahoochee Bayou just east of town limits where channelization has completed engineering works removing much high ground between Lauderdale Lakes Estates neighborhood to the north and Carters Ridge Golf Course neighborhood south to provide an Olympic-sized pool complex next door to what used to be Rossmar Airport - see satellite map below! The area now bounded by I-85/Hwy 138/Park Drive became what we know today when development began along US 4 corridor adjacent Whatley Parkway adjacent Toombs Road starting about 1950s - see aerial photo below right taken prior thereto! Carrollton first appeared on maps circa 1821 when General John Carroll landed his troops here after routing a large Indian force near present day Roswell AFB following some skirmishes during his abortive war with that group known as “the Cherokee War” fought mainly northwest of this location near present day Cobb County line then extending into present day Gwinnett County due westward along Fort Pickens Rd then continuing southwest along Paulding Rd into modern day Dekalb County ultimately terminating abruptly at Rocky Mount Rd leading thence back upstream across Chattahoochee River towards Marietta where he established new capital Gadsden & probably others nearby not shown here but certainly very numerous over time: see additional images accompanying text in article under subject headings above image gallery below left showing general locations most recently surveyed or updated data courtesy National Atlas Service 1959 dated re: events surrounding founding & growth etc etc etc!! ..!!!

Carrollton is a city in Troup County, Georgia, United States. The population was 6,236 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Troup County. The first permanent settlers in what became Carrollton were two men from North Carolina: Daniel Boone and his son John, who founded a cabin on the Chattahoochee River in 1794. Over time, other families moved into the area and various businesses sprang up around thisrcabin until it was destroyed by fire in 1821. Carrollton began to grow rapidly after that point as entrepreneurs set up shop hereabouts and new investors arrived to take advantage of its natural resources such as coal and cotton. By 1868, when local businessman James White purchased land adjoining downtown for $5,000, Carrollton had become one of the most important industrial centers in Georgia. In 1888, white lawyer Alfred Hargrave donated land for a Carnegie library which quickly becameone of Georgia's largest libraries with more than 4 million volumes published between 1892 and 1961. In 1907-08, following passage of the General Appropriations Act (Pt VII), Carrollton received an investment totaling $2 million from Andrew Carnegie to help support technological advances within its municipal government; these investments led to major improvements throughout town including incorporation as a city in 1909 and annexation of parts of Dunwoody (now Atlanta) in 1912. During World War II, much effort went into developing munitions production at nearby Flint Hills Ammunition Plant; carpenters were used extensively to build tanks and artillery pieces while workers built roads and bridges acrosshundreds of miles during wartime construction. HoweverAfter Victory came freedom - residents turned their attention back to their small town which saw modest growth through the 1960s until rapid suburbanization caused decline beginning in the early 1990s A resurgence has recently begun with projects such as development along Interstate 85 near downtown which have helped revitalize portions of town
