In 1906, when Atlanta moved its business district southward into what is now Cobb County, it became necessary for Carrollton to share a border withAtlanta so that businesses could operate together without fear of local antitrust violations by Atlanta's largest business establishment—the Telephone Company of Atlanta (now Comcast). This arrangement continued until 1947 when Falcon Heights annexed Carrollton through annexation proceedings over which Falcons had no control; Falcons are still technically residents of Cobb County although they are not considered taxpayers there because their primary allegiance lies within Carrollton proper rather than with Cobb Countyshipping industry along I-285 toward Marietta GA while most residents commute into town for jobs acrosstown or outlying schools such as Kennesaw State University or Saint Simons Island Community College nestled among rolling hills on Georgian Bayou just east of town limits

Carrollton is a town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. Carrollton was founded in 1814 by General James Walker and named for him. The first permanent settler in Carrollton was General James Walker, who arrived in 1814 from North Carolina and established a farmstead on what is now west side of Park Avenue. In 1820, he married Anna Beavers and moved to what is now east side of Park Avenue. They had six children: James A., John S., Infant (1821-1824), Sarah J., Andrew G., Lucilla (1827-1901). In 1828, General Wheeler Futch purchased land adjoining Walker's farm for $1,000. He built a log cabin called "Futch's Grove" on this site and began trading with the local Native Americans for goods such as corn and tobacco. In 1830 he erected a small frame house on his property which served as the nucleus of present day Carrollton Village. In 1830–31 epidemic typhoid fever struck the area around Atlanta and killed many people; however, it also left an indelible mark on Carrollton history as one of its earliest outbreaks caused much hysteria among its citizens over what they believed was an impending curse or divine punishment visited upon them by some unseen force. On December 24th 1830 – just days after the death of President George Washington – residents convened to ask God forgiveness for their wrong doings during that year’s presidential election campaign while singing “Auld Lang Syne” outside Futch’s Grove Chapel according to one account (). That same year saw rise to prominence within the community John Wesley Hill who became pastor at First Baptist Church located on today’s northwest corner of Park Avenue/Highway 153rd Street where he preached until his death in 1847 at age 73 years old (). Reverend Hill played an important role in developing early Methodist services hereabouts which were conducted outdoors under various trees until indoor facilities were constructed nearby about 1840 when First Baptist moved into their current building #2 on present day Highway 153rd Street across from Seventh Day Adventist Church across from US Airways Arena (now FedEx Field) . Rev S Hill baptized African American slaves brought over along with other Underground Railroad activities starting about 1840 By 1850 there were only 10 families living within village limits situated east & west of Highways 153rd/Park Avenues including Generals Walker's widow Anna Bowman & 3 daughters John A Mrs Sarah J Mrs Andrew G Mr Lucilla (& infants) all living with Gadsden Female School District Teachers Pensioners
