In 1917, another company called Colt Firearms Corporation announced plans to produce an all-new assault rifle called the M1A1 (or Model 1915). The M1A1 featured many innovative features including a detachable magazine which allowed it to be field stripped and reloaded quickly, an adjustable stock which allowed it to be customized for various shooting techniques, and an intricate gas system that allowed it to fire through any type of window or door regardless of size or shape. TheM1A1 was such a success that Colt Firearms Corporation decided to produce similar models with different calibers across different countries throughout World War I.

Canton, Georgia is a town located in Muscogee County, Georgia. The population was 9,824 at the 2010 census. Canton is one of two towns located in Muscogee County that were not established as settlements by European Americans until the late 1800s. The other town is Decatur. The first settlers to arrive in what would become Canton were three men from North Carolina who named their new community "Canton." They arrived on December 12, 1802, and founded the village on a tract of land they had purchased from the Creek Nation. By 1810, there were six families living in Canton. In 1811, an act of the United States Congress designated Bessemer Township as part of Muscogee County; however, no residents moved to that township until after it was renamed Canton Township in 1816 because most of the original settlers had been removed to nearby Decatur during the American Civil War (1865-1868). The first school in Canton opened its doors on November 15, 1814; it was known as 'the Old Academy'. It served as the primary educational institution for children up until about 1870 when a new school building was erected which became known as 'the New School'. Today's Old Academy building has been restored and used as a museum since 1984. Canton had 1 storey and 10 rooms when it first opened its doors; today's structure only has 4 storeys and 6 rooms due to budget cuts made by local officials during the Great Recession. In addition to its lack of space, Canton also experienced significant financial difficulties early on due to an overabundance of debt incurred by developers constructing homes near Highway 85 which led to increased traffic congestion and expense associated with trying to get drivers onto Interstate 285 without assistance from law enforcement officers. Despite these challenges though - including some instances where citizens took matters into their own hands such as paying off entire mortgages - over time Canton grew steadily economically thanks both to its location within Muscogee County and its numerous businesses that diversified into various industries throughout the years including manufacturing (steel production being one notable exception), service industry (catering services being another), construction (largely housing development) and agricultural pursuits (a large cotton crop helped contribute significantly to cantonal growth).

Canton is a city in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 11,812 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Fulton County. Canton was founded by James Robertson in 1806 as a small village on the Chattahoochee River. In 1821, it became the capital of Georgia and remained so until 1794 when Savannah replaced it as the state's capital. From 1794 to 1801, Canton was also the capital of the Creek Nation. The town was platted in 1820 by John Creswell under the name of Romeowne after his home town in Scotland. Romeowne had been destroyed during a military campaign against Native Americans in 1812-13 and its residents were forced to flee to this area where they built new homes and raised crops until their return in 1830. In 1860, during the American Civil War, Confederate General Robert Ewell called on people of all denominations to come together and support him because he needed supplies for his army from within Georgia alone. The result was what is known as "The Battle of Canton." Union forces led by General Ulysses S Grant arrived first and quickly surrounded Confederate forces commanded by General Joseph Wheeler which caused many casualties among both sides but ultimately resulted in Confederate surrender at Appomattox Court House on April 9th 1865. During Reconstruction following Reconstruction era South Carolina gained control over much of southeastern Alabama including most of what is now Fulton County including Canton which reverted to Georgia control following that state's admission into Congress on December 12th 1870 During World War II, Canton served as an airfield for Army Air Forces training personnel during World War II before becoming an industrial center once again followingWorld War II with production emphasis being placed upon aircraft manufacturing such as Boeing 707s and 747s while other industries such as plastics manufacture took off beginning around 1960 By 2000, however economic decline had begun throughout much of southern Fulton County followed by various fires that consumed large swaths ofresidential areas especially downtown Canton which effectively ended any hope for redevelopment or new businesses entering intothe community In 2001 Census data (the latest available), there were 10,687 residents living inI-285 excluded portionsof Cobb County which contains Marietta proper
Canton was founded in 1802 by General Nathan Bedford Forrest and Colonel James H. Carters as a small town on the Chattahoochee River. It became an important fur-trading center, and then became a cotton plantation town. After the American Civil War, Canton developed into a major manufacturing center for cotton goods. The area now known as Canton was largely destroyed in the Great Atlanta Fire of 1871, but it quickly recovered and became an important cultural center during the late 19th century.
