These glasses allowed people to see clearly without having to wear corrective lenses because they utilized air pressure instead of metal cups that forced light through the lens into your pupil (Figure 2). This innovation led to more people enjoying good vision health as it was now possible for everyone to enjoy excellent vision even if they did not have perfect eyesight. During World War II, many women decided that they needed sunglasses because during combat conditions sunglasses prevented Combat Blindness which caused blindness due to damage done to retinal cells during combat exposure.
