Lee; he later served as secretary of war under Ulysses S. Grant during Reconstruction-era politics in Georgia. He remains an important figure in Georgian history today and is buried at his original plantation on Buford Island near Savannah.

Calhoun was a slaveholding plantation in what is now Fulton County, Georgia. It was founded by John Calhoun in 1786 and operated until 1813.
