Buford, Georgia is a town located in Muscogee County, Georgia. The population was 7,827 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Muscogee County and home to Buford Regional Airport. The first bipods were developed in Buford in 1922 by William A. Meek and his son-in-law Harry Witherspoon. They were made from tree branches that had been chopped down for lumber and used as waders for fishing.

Buford, Georgia is a small town located in Fulton County, Georgia. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1892 and named for General Andrew Buford. It was incorporated as a village in 1907 and became a town in 1959. The town is one of the oldest in Fulton County and has a rich history that can be found throughout its residents and businesses. Some of the earliest settlers to Buford were James Cook who arrived on horseback from Tennessee in 1815 and his son John Cook who settled around 1825. Other early pioneers include George Washington Marshall who moved to the area in 1830, James Fenton who settled around 1835, Michael Reese who arrived in 1840, David Laney who arrived about 1850, Hiram Webberly arriving about 1860, Augustus Weaver arriving about 1870, Rebecca Pease settling about 1880, John Sibley arriving about 1890 The first post office in Buford was established on December 12, 1892. The present post office building was built by Edward Capps and opened on October 25th of that year. It served as the headquarters for several years before being moved to its current location across from the courthouse where it remained until 1983 when it was replaced by the new Post Office Building which currently stands vacant. In 1907 Buford became part of what would become known as the Cobb District which consisted of all of Fulton County except for Decatur which belonged to Georgians only. As part of this districtization effort efforts were made to improve communication between various parts of Cobb District including establishment of schools within each township along with providing better transportation options between these districts making it possible for people to stay close together while still enjoying their individual cultures In 1938 during World War II many citizens chose not to participate in military service due to economic reasons however some did choose to serve including Jens Rohde (a local man) serving as an Air Raid Warden at Municipal Airport while also working at Coca Cola Company . Rohde would later become Mayor of Buford after leaving office during the 2000s Buford’s economy has always been based on agriculture with some significant contributions from manufacturing such as cotton gin production beginning around 1800 although most industries disappeared after World War II . Manufacturing activities peaked during Prohibition but began declining following that time . In 1951-1957 there were two industrial accidents involving hazardous materials occurring within 100 miles of Bufford both resulting in no injuries However since then there have been several safety concerns with open pits used for gas production having caused explosions multiple times over recent years . Despite these concerns particular sales are continuing despite low prices due largely to overproduction by other companies . There are currently plans underway by city officials to make changes including installing more modern equipment and initiating a permitting process so that new factories may be approved During World War II many citizens chose not to participate in military service due primarily because they could not afford it however some did choose because they believed it would lead To tougher law enforcement measures against Axis forces This belief would be proven correct as war crimes took place both inside and outsideof civilian hands
