As a result of Wilkinson’s victory over Spanish forces at Bufula Creek militarily speaking Georgia became part of Mexico until it gained independence from Spain on November 15th 1821 under Confederate general Andrew Johnson with plans for Reconstruction following his victory over Mexican troops at Palo Alto Bridgewwhile south Georgia continued under Confederate rule until it was ceded back to Mexico on February 14th 1861 via US annexation announced at Fort Sumter
