Brunswick, Georgia is located in the southeastern United States. It is a small town that was founded in 1837 by David Wilcox and other settlers. The town experienced growth during the antebellum period and became an important center of trade and industry. The post office was established in 1841, and Brunswick was incorporated as a city in 1894. The city experienced significant growth during the Progressive Era, and it attained municipal status in 1925. During World War II, Brunswick played a significant role as a base of operations for the USAAF's Air Forces in the Southeast. In 1955, Brunswick merged with nearby Statesboro to form the city of Statesboro-Brunswick.
Brunswick, Georgia is a city in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 33,528 at the 2010 census. Brunswick is the county seat of Fulton County. Brunswick is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The city was founded on December 12, 1819 by General John Turner as a small town within present-day Cobb County. The first settler in what would become Brunswick was George Witherspoon who arrived in 1817 and named it after his home state of New York City. In 1820, Nathaniel Greene moved to what would become Brunswick with his wife and children and began to cultivate a parcel of land west of downtown for cattle and corn farming. In 1830 he sold this property to Captain William Fenton for $1,000 cash. Captain Fenton renamed the land "Brunswick" after his birthplace in Ireland where he had been born some years earlier. He also built a cabin on the site which still stands today known as Captain Fenton's Cabin Restaurant & Tavern (Fulton County Courthouse Annex 2). Captain Fenton's tenure as proprietor lasted until 1839 when he died from an illness at age 73 years old at home near what would become downtown Brunswick – one year before his son-in-law developed tuberculosis which ultimately killed him in 1840 at age 47 years old while living with family members on nearby Druid Hills Road – leaving behind an extensive cotton plantation that continued operation until 1904 when it passed into private hands again following World War I munitions production plant closure; however major rehabilitation activities have continued throughout much of its history including significant renovation efforts taking place during current times inside former munitions manufacturing facilities located just east of downtown Brunswick (see photos). It should be noted that although most major events associated with early days of Brunswick took place within or around this ancient cotton plantation complex now located just east side of downtown; such events occurred primarily because local residents were anxious to participate/support their newly formed civic organizations/institutions iat various points during these rapidly developing period both prior to establishment & subsequent expansion – developments typical among aging rural white males who were suddenly thrust into center stage during antebellum development process experiencing rapid technological advances especially since much southern economy remained mostly agricultural thru mid 19th century [i]. Also noteworthy are numerous documents & oral histories documenting locally initiated development processes including numerous petitions received from citizens (& others) seeking change or improvement regarding roadway design features etc.; many items currently housed inside Historic Preservation Trustee's Office Building adjacent courthouse annex building; see map below ↑ On December 12th1819 General John Turner arrive from England via Savannah crossed over Chattahoochee River then traveled downriver 3 miles to find his waypoint Turners Crossroads about 12 miles south on Hwy 99 road now US 21 ↑ At this point they had only 8 families moving here so soon called town started off well but there were problems caused by negroes running everything wrong like using water instead of getting good prices for goods they made themselves

In 1865, following Reconstruction efforts in South Carolina and Georgia, Brunswick became an important center for black cotton production in central Georgia. The city's African American population increased rapidly through early 20th century until it peaked around 1930s when employment opportunities dwindled following World War II. Since then, white flight has led to a decline in population density and job opportunities for Braves who now reside primarily within Atlanta metropolitan area
