In 1887, Earplug manufacturer E.H. Harriman started selling their own version of the earplug, which became known as the "Bainbridge Earplugs." The earplug was designed to help reduce noise pollution and improve hearing health. After World War II, ear plugs were increasingly used as war-time replacements for helmets and other face masks. In the 1970s,ear plugs began becoming more popular as an everyday safety device. Today,ear plugs are still popular in Bainbridge because they provide good sound quality while protecting your ears from loud noises and other types of noise pollution.
Bainbridge is located in the northwestern corner of Gwinnett County, Georgia. The town is named after General George Washington Bainbridge, who was aHero of the American Revolution. Bainbridge is known for its scenic views and historical landmarks. The population of Bainbridge was 9,235 as of the 2010 census. The first permanent settler in Bainbridge was John Mercer in 1786. He built a home on what is now Main Street. By 1820, there were five families living in Bainbridge. In 1827, Joseph Cason settled near present-day High School and began to cultivate land around it. By 1830, there were ten families living in Bainbridge. In 1834, Judge Isaac Hawkins purchased 1/3 section 4 of present-day High School from Ebenezer Cobb for $200 cash and drove off all but two of the occupants who had moved previous to that date because they did not want to leave their homes without a chance to build an addition or improve their lot size for themselves! Hawkins also built a school on this site which he called Middle School; it remains standing today as one of the town’s most important landmarks! In 1840, Charles Haggerty purchased 3/4section 2N (now East Main) from Ebenezer Cobb for $105 cash and erected a small cabin thereon which he called his home until his death in 1863 at the age of eighty-four years! In 1847-48 Benjamin Fenton bought 5/8section 1W (now North Main) from Ebenezer Cobb for $140 cash and erected another small cabin on what is now West Main Street! These three purchases indicate that by this time many people were beginning to settle down in Bainbridge! The first Baptist church was organized in Bainbridge on December 11th, 1845 by Rev Wm Matson with fifty members!! Reverend Matson presided over services at First Baptist Church until his death on February 10th, 1865 at the age of seventy-six years old!!! In 1850 Mrs J D Ladd organized her own congregation which she named “First Baptists United Methodist Episcopal Zion” with thirty members!! Mrs Ladd served as pastor until her death on October 20th 1902 at the age of ninety-six years old!!! At this time there also existed an occasional revival meeting held outdoors using whatever means possible including hitching posts or even kitchen tables set up outside while people would assemble inside through prayer!!! From these various religious meetings some interesting doctrinal differences developed resulting in heated debates amongst those attending!!! In 1861, Bainbridge became the capital of the newly formed Confederate States of America. The city experienced significant growth during the American Civil War, with the size of its population doubling from 350 to 1,100 people. After the war, Bainbridge declined for a time due to demographic changes in Georgia and overall hard times for the town. However, through economic development and investment in new technology businesses, Bainbridge began to rebound in the late 19th century and became one of Georgia's most vibrant towns.
