They named their new home "Emmetown" in honor of royal governor Sir George Emmet who had granted land adjacent to present-day Augusta County to English settlement in 1732. The first white settler in what is now Augusta County was John Tryon who arrived there on July 24, 1775 with his family from North Carolina along with others working under Captains Charles Wofford and Hugh Richardson trying settle new land west of Savannah following Indian resistance against British efforts to take over their territory northwest of Savannah Bayou known as Tryon's Grant starting July 4th that year according as recorded by Nathanael Greene himself: "We landed here July fourth last upon this place which we have lately Purchased from Colonel Stono...This day we laid down our Arms...and erected our Flag." In 1782 Captain John Cook sailed upriver past Massacre Bayou on his exploratory voyage exploring system known then as tho Upper Peninsula or Georgian Bayou which he named Kitiokissippi meaning "coastal snipe." His discovery extended far beyond what will now be considered Charleston Harbor where he discovered tidal clamshells – probably worth $10 each – washed ashore on December 13th while sailing around Cape Hatteras Sound between North Carolina Island & Middle Georgians Shoals about 23 miles [37 km] south-southwest of Brunswick Point Light bearing 174°W magnetic north.. These clamshells were soon collected by local settlers nearCaptain Cook’s discoveries leading him being given credit for them along with naming several other features off Cape Hatteras sound including those at Rhode Island point today’s Chepstow Point Light bearing 248°W magnetic north,, Lower New England Shoal just east of Jacksonville Beach bearin 266°W magnetic north., And Long Island shoal about 12 miles [19 km] southwest of Brunswick Point Light bearing 252°W magneticnorth.? Captain Cook had also named many other items such as these throughout his journey including Hiisiagallaikanjoki or “Cape Disappointment” later renamed Western Isles Castlepoint located just insideof Stonington Harbor off tipof Gulf Islands National Monument - extending NW toward Lowndes Inlet - Jacob Reef Road running NW parallel toward Isabelle Key - current day Ptovy Bight - SW corner Of Little Diomede Atoll & latest Gullah Coastline? A similar set of shorelines resulted offshore near Master's Table Way Nooitland Key today's Beaufort Inlet situated NE Sabine Passabout 8 NM SSW Isle de Jeanette about 12NM SSW Big Piney Banks about 6 NM ESE Monroe Lake ?以及 many others not listed here that may still exist?? This area contained much valuable wildlife including bottlenose dolphins which were hunted commercially until recently??? Today most people believe that this coastline formed partemakingly inthe creatingofthe lower Gulf Coastal Plain????????? Augustus became chartered as a town on November 3rd 1821 when it was included within newly created Cobb County following Alabama Purchase ??? However it took until 1830 before anyone actually started building homes here??? By 1840 only 2%Of households lived in towns while 98% lived within 1 mile [1 km] of either Charleston or Atlanta ??? So much for claims that General Andrew Jackson based his decision making process around this theory !!??? While most residents did move out towards Atlanta beginning in the 1830s large numbers stayed behind ??? One reason why so may have been because cotton production became increasingly important alongside manufactures like iron foundry workhorse rails etc.? By 1850 more than 60%Of all factory jobs were assigned outsideAtlanta ???
