In 1824, Americus, GA was founded by General James Wilkinson. The town was named after the British colony of Georgia which Wilkinson had helped to purchase in 1815. The first gun shop in Americus opened in 1830 and soon became a popular spot for shooting matches and other shooting competitions. In 1840, the first Shotgun Association was formed in Americus and soon began to promote shotguns as a tool for hunting game. In 1847, the first Rifle Association was formed in Americus and quickly became involved in activities such as muzzleloader target practice and rifle shoots. By 1860, there were over fifty gun shops throughout the city with over one thousand firearms available for sale. American rifle manufacturers like Winchester, Remington, Colt & Company., Stevens Brothers Arms Company., Browning & Overholt Manufacturing Company., Savage Arms Corporation., Hawken Manufacturing Company., etc.), entered into relationships with foreign manufacturers (Austria-Hungary-Russian Arsenal Factory (AuHafner), Sweden-Dupont Gun factory (Savage), Denmark-Eibargunners Jernbanerfabrik (Browning)), sharing technology, manufacturing processes, etc.). As America rapidly industrialized during the late 19th century it grew increasingly difficult to find skilled labor to maintain traditional firearm production techniques. As result many small businesses closed down or went out of business while larger companies abandoned firearms production altogether due to costs associated with new technologies like electric power and automation. During this time period there were also several mass shootings that occurred throughout America involving civilian targets; these incidents serve as reminders that firearms are still used regularly for terroristic purposes across North America even though they are no longer seen as common legal weapons of choice. In 1919 when World War I began Americans turned their attention towards Europe once again with universal suffrage becoming an issue on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. In response to this growing sentiment within America all manner of rifles were being created including machineguns using exotic materials like aluminum alloy instead of iron or steel because automation could not yet be fully implemented into firearm production at this point. However despite this increase in firepower some citizens continued to oppose any form of military involvement outside America's borders citing fears that munitions manufactured domestically would become unavailable should war break out elsewhere on either side of the ocean and our country would be left vulnerable without its means Of defense! This tension between patriotism versus national security led ultimately to Pearl Harbor where Japan attacked Pearl Harbor resulting in American entry into World War II!

Americus is a city in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 7,913 at the 2010 census. Americus is located on the east side of the Chattahoochee River and is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. Americus was founded in 1812 by General Nathan Bedford Forrest as a trading post on what is now known as West Side Highway. The first store in Americus was built by John Wilkinson and his brother-in-law, James Dillard. In 1830, General Andrew Jackson assigned Colonel John Chilton to organize local militia to help protect Americans during the American Revolution. After independence was secured, Mr. Wilkinson opened another store which became known as "The White House." One of Americus' most significant moments came in 1834 when it became the center of an international slave trade ring led by Captain Phillips that operated from Mobile Bayou and its surrounding areas. In 1840, Americus had 2 churches ( Baptist and Methodist), 1 school (Methodist), 15 residences (including 3 plantations), 2 stores (Mr. Wilkinson's & Mrs Fenton's Store & Mr Gore's Store), 1 hospital (15 beds) and 9 slaves who worked on farms near town limits orchards with apple trees orchard produce; all were owned by white citizens within town boundaries only: 6 men working for their families/wives; 4 children living with their parents until they could leave home for college or work; 3 old women making cheese from milk skimmed off cows whose butter went into Atlantans' bread baskets for years afterwards In 1850, some residents voted to move from downtown to what is now called "The Village" because of lack of space there for shops and businesses on Main Street between Constitution Avenue NW and Fifth Street NW . At first there were only a few homes along Main Street but over time more began appearing including several hotels including The Continental Hotel which still stands today A number of brick buildings were added around this time such as First National Bank building later replaced with Post Office Building hexagon shaped structure built 1902; Stonington Presbyterian Church - constructed 1925 also still standing today next door to Masonic Lodge #2
