Acworth is a city in Cobb County, Georgia, United States. The population was 41,814 at the 2010 census. Acworth is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The Acworth Historic District is a National Register of Historic Places listings in Cobb County, Georgia. It encompasses over 100 buildings and 2 acres (10,000 m2). It includes examples of Bungalow/Craftsman architecture from the early 20th century to the present day. The district was developed by Acworthians as a rural retreat for themselves and their families and has been described as "a unique mixture of classic American vernacular architecture with touches of European modernism." In 1892, David Montgomery began developing what would become Acworth Mills on land he had purchased from the Creek Nation. Montgomery's mill became one of the first commercial enterprises in Cobb County. Today it remains one of the most important symbols associated with Acworth. In 1924, Atlantian Building Company opened its new headquarters building here which remains one of Atlantian's most iconic landmarks today. This case was made from heavy brass tubing, allowing it to be filled with water and then sealed with galvanized wire. Over time, various types of soft cases have been developed. The most common today are those designed for pocket guns such as revolvers or semiautomatic pistols. This type of case featured a softer outer shell that was augmented with a layer of flexible rubber or cloth material to provide reinforcement and protect the firearm from scratches, dings, and bad skin conditions. The SS2 typically weighed around 50 grams and could hold up to four rounds of ammunition. In 1911, Sauer & Co., producers of the .300 Winchester Magnum rifle began producing their own line of handgun cases designed specifically for this cartridge; these cases were called the SA/R series (Sauer Arms/Reinhold Richter). These Cases featured a harder outer shell made from steel instead of plastic which helped reduce wear on firearms over time as well as providing extra protection against scrape damage caused by recoil forces while shooting off-hand cartridges such as those used in revolvers chambered for .30 caliber automatic ammunition such as the Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR). Between 1912-1916 Sauer also produced an experimental version of their SA/R series known as the SS series (Saurer Schrotgewehr), which featured an inner hardshell casing made from steel rather than plastic which allowed it to handle more recoil without breaking down over time like other handgun cases available at that time. It is interesting to note that although both types of handgun cases were ultimately created for use with different calibers (.30 caliber automatic weapons only used SS ammo), they share many common Design Elements including: an external Hard Shell casing made fromsteel insteadofplastic; an inner Soft Shell casing madefroma flexible rubber or cloth material; an open faced magazine well; raised arms on either sideOfThe Magazine Well; Thumbhole Stock ;and Aperture Ring .
Acworth is a town in DeKalb County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of theAtlanta metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit Acworth were the Muscogee Creeks in 1802. A post office was established in 1811 and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1916. In 1814, General Andrew Jackson's forces burned down the courthouse and all of the surrounding buildings during their Battle of Acworth Creek. Today, only a few small pieces of what once constituted the courthouse remain, including some Brick walls that now serve as part of a playground for children nearby. In 1821, Emory & Henry College opened its doors to students from Georgia and Alabama; this marks the beginning of higher education for many people within Acworth's limits. In 1865, Confederate general Jubal Early detonated an exploding mine beneath Union troops under his command at Battlefield Graveyard outside town; as a result of this event, many residents fled battle damage or were taken prisoner by Confederate soldiers. After several years during which no new development occurred within town limits (save for some agricultural improvements),Acworth voted to incorporate as a city on November 3rd, 1907 under then Mayor Augustus Worthy Jr.(now Acworth City Councilman). After several months of debate and community input that included hearings both public and private (including one held at Emory & Henry College), voters ratified incorporation on December 10th with little opposition from either side- only one person had opposed it when it was first proposed back in 1907! Twenty-six years later on January 1st 1957 Judge Harry Ladd gave birth to his son Isaac inside Stonington Presbyterian Hospital located just east of downtown Acworth - becoming one of only two father/son births ever registered within cities or townships throughout DeKalb County! subsequently becoming known as "the dad" due to his influence over not just Acworth but also neighboring communities like Stone Mountain Village and Pinson Valley! As Atlanta grew increasingly populous after World War II increased demand for housing units near Interstate 85 (and other major highways), so too did interest in buying property along Interstate 285 northward into rural areas such as those around Cobb County (led by developers like Jack Welch) – ultimately leading to the decline and eventual abandonment of much rural acreage around Acworth between the late 1960s through early 1990s despite numerous attempts by city officials to revive redevelopment efforts over subsequent decades! Although there have been periodic expressions thereof since then through various initiatives launched by various individuals or groups local or national(most notably via plans announced by Mayor Jeff Weaver last year!), today little more than scattered farmlands remains adjacent to I-285 throughout most eastern DeKalb County save for a few small villages located near Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park while much remaining rural acreage along I-285 itself has become ghost towns devoid of human inhabitants save for occasional visitors from nearby Atlanta who occasionally stop by on business trips or pleasure rides...or retirees driving out specifically for access to Northwestern Georgia's longest open roadside drive!
