Today,Acworth is home to a variety of businesses and organizations such as a library system and a hospital.
The Acworth community began to form in the early 1800s when a group of farmers and settlers arrived on a tract of land that is now part of Acworth. The first known settler in the area was Nathan Walton, who arrived in 1807. The town began to grow rapidly after that, and by 1832 it had reached its current size. The town was founded on the site of what is now Acworth Elementary School, which was built in 1892.
