Acworth is a small town in Cobb County, Georgia. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The first ammunition store in Acworth opened on October 15, 1894. The store was run by W.H. Settle and his brother-in-law, John Gossett. In 1898, ACWU (Atlanta Clothing Work Union) organized a trade show to promote new products from around the United States. At this show, Acworth became the first city in Fulton County to open its arms to the buying public with an ammo market place inside of its municipal building complex! This marks an important step forAcworth as it became one of America's most popular tourist destinations for shooting enthusiasts! In 1916, George Fenton started selling rifles and shotguns at his hardware store located on US Route 1 south of town center. By 1925, he had built a larger business with over 20 employees including himself and sold rounds through mail order or by stoping at gun shows throughout central Georgia! His operation helped support local charities during difficult times such as World War I and II while providing jobs for many people in need! By 1939, two other businesses were operating within minutes of each other when World War II began! The three businesses combined into one large dealership which continued to operate until 1960 when it merged with another large ammunition company! That same year saw the start of Ammunition Manufacturing Company Incorporated which would become one of the largest manufacturers and retailers of ammunition in America!

In 1845, they voted to incorporate as a town. After years of growth and improvement, Acworth reached its peak in the late 1800s with its thriving businesses and population. However, by 1900, the city was experiencing significant decline due to economic factors such as prohibition and large-scale immigration. By 1930, Acworth had lost most of its business and social significance. It has since experienced sporadic revival efforts over the years but has not regained its former prominence
Acworth is a small town in Georgia, United States. The population was 1,844 at the 2000 census. It is part of Macon County. The first white person to live in Acworth was James Green, who arrived in 1824 from England. He built a log cabin on the west bank of the Chattahoochee River and named it "Greenville." In 1827, he moved his family to what is now Acworth and became one of the early settlers. He started a general store and tavern there and also served as justice of the peace. In 1869, Acworth's first school was built; it was later renamed Aiken School District No. 2 High School. The first post office in Acworth was established in 1865; it was renamed Greenville Post Office after James Green's daughter-in-law, Emily Aiken (1817–92). In 1886, General James Mays Sherman visited Acworth while on his way to lead Union forces into Atlanta during the Civil War. When he arrived at Greenville Station on July 20th seeking passage downriver to Mobile Bay for supplies, he stopped at Acworth for lunch with local farmers before continued his journey downstream that evening via Wartburg Ferry across the Chattahoochee River Bridge into Alabama. That same day Sherman ordered General Pemberton to cross the river at Vicksburg so that Confederate troops could be brought upriver for evacuation purposes – an order which never arrived due to cavalry difficulties crossing overland from Mississippi Territory under General Philip Sheridan onto Tennessee territory near Chattanooga encountering Union cavalry patrols along their route.). A few years later (1889), when railroad construction began through Macon County, various businesses withinAcworth began providing jobs for people who had formerly worked outside the town limits: For example, John Hargrave opened a grocery store next door to his home in 1889 and soon developed other businesses withinAcworth such as dry goods store and harness shop/marketplace.. However by 1893 most of these businesses had closed because of competition from larger stores opening up elsewhere in Macon County while railroads continued expanding eastward looking for new markets. By this time most residents had left or been forced out by economic conditions withinMacon County following railroads' arrival There were still some remaining residents until about 1920 when many took up farming or other forms of agriculture.. a few shops continued open until around 1940 but generally declined thereafter..
