After Indian Removal in 1830, Auld leased this tract from John Chilton for five years until he could purchase it back from Chilton for $25 per acre ($ ). The original townsite name derived from an incident during this time: on November 3, 1892 J.M."Moses" Ziegler was driving to church when he hit a rock which blocked his path; he called out "Zephy" which led him to believe that the rock was shaped like a phoenix so he called the new town "Phoenix". At first there were only 25 inhabitants; today there are over 1,000 people living in Zephyrhills including its ZIP code 45811 and its government website www.polkcountyfloridagov/. The founders of Jacksonville also settled near present day Zapopan after being driven south by hurricanes Andrew andarta in 1836 and 1837 respectively. These settlers found fertile lowlands that would be ideal for cultivation due to their location near Pensacola Bay and inland rivers such as the St Johns River – alluvial fans created today’s drainage systems that allow much of Palm Beach County to be degreely irrigated without irrigation water reaching rural areas too far away - making this area one of richest agricultural regions on Earth during those times period!

The original Zephyrhills shopping center still stands today across from I-95 Business Loop South exit #2A on Southwest Boulevard and offers general store items such as canned goods, gasoline, clothes and jewelry; hardware; plumbing supplies; appliances; cigarettes; candy bars; ice cream cones and other souvenirs for visitors to purchase while they are in the area. On October 15th, 1984 Hurricane Andrew destroyed much of what remained of downtown Zephyrhills leaving only a few foundations remaining from the former commercial district which once thrived with businesses like Safeway Supermarkets (now Kroger), Piggly Wiggly Fastfood restaurant (now Taco Bell) and Sears Tower standing among others that have since been replaced by more recent structures or abandoned altogether.-1
