Winter Springs is a small town located in Duval County, Florida. The population was 1,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. The first permanent settlers in Winter Springs were two families from New York City who arrived in 1853. John and Anna Reed settled on a tract of land that included present-day Winter Springs in 1854. The town was named after Mr. Reed's daughter, Winifred Springman (1812-1889). During the early years of the 20th century, many businesses and residences were built around what is now Main Street. Those days are long gone but can still be seen in artifacts such as Coca Cola cans and ice cream cones from the 1920s and 1930s. One of downtown's most well-known landmarks is simply called "The Post Office." At one time it was one of several post offices serving what is now Winter Springs; its successor moved to Coral Gables in 1925/26. In 1935, during Franklin D Roosevelt's presidential campaign, he held a rally at Sun Life Stadium which attracted tens of thousands of people to Winter Springs for a day filled with events including speeches by FDR and truck drivers delivering coal to power plants across America on their open trucks! President Roosevelt then traveled north to Jacksonville where he gave another speech before returning home via train en route back to Washington D.C.. Upon his return home he took a train into Jacksonville bound for Sun Life Stadium where he delivered yet another speech! After his speech President Roosevelts motorcade pulled up to stadium gates where millions more people had gathered for an event that would live in history! Even though all this occurred about 100 years ago it still feels like yesterday when you walk through downtown Winter Springs today! Today there are few traces remaining from those early days when winter brought much pleasure: just a couple old houses left standing along Main Street near where we used to buy our ice cream from Old World grocery stores; and some charming country churches perched atop knobbly hills overlooking broad Lake Junior League fields – evidence that agriculture played an important role hereabouts long before high school students ever got their hands on calculators or drove minivans intoimanhattan

Winter Springs is a town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando metropolitan area. Winter Springs was founded in 1892 by J.D. Westbrook and his brother George as a small independent community on State Road 417 about east of Lake Okeechobee. In 1916, Westbrook donated land to the city of Orlando for development into an urban center with a library and public schools; Winter Springs proper was annexed by Orlando in 1949. The town's first post office opened in 1892 and closed in 1904 due to lack of customers; during its time it served as the site of two churches (Plymouth Baptist Church, which opened in 1893 and operated until 1907, and First Baptist Church which opened in 1901). A store opening soon followed: The Hammond Store Inc., organized December 9th,. This store would be one of several that thrived throughout the late 19th century as towns grew around larger agricultural centers such as Gainesville and Plantation East on the north side of Kissimmee River where riverboats landed duringriverboat days when transportationlinks between those areas were few and far between. The Hammond Store continued to operate until it burned down on October 15th 1914 while being used as a warehouse by J.D.'s Sons plumbers company-one day after their new building had been completed next door at 5015 SqFt block E corner closing lot 12352A1 2 blocks NE corner lot 42401B1 1/4 miles SW corner intersection street names are Greenwood Avenue NW (now US-441), Winchester Avenue NW (now SR-240), Indian Trail NNW (now US-4), Central Avenue SE (now USE-441)

The population of Winter Springs grew rapidly during World War II due to its location on a military base and its role as a supply depot for the war effort. The population peaked at over 100,000 in 1945 and declined to around 60,000 by 1951. During the 1970s and 1980s,Winter Springs experienced significant growth due to its proximity toor Daytona Beach.
