Winter Park is a town located in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. The population was 25,711 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Downtown Miami Combined Statistical Area. The first winter park was established in Winter Park by Captain John Cranch and his men on December 5, 1875. The park included an area now known as City Park and consisted of only . Captain Cranch donated all of the land for the park to be created and presented it to the city on February 20, 1876. The first president of Winter Park was J.B. Morrissey who served from 1886-1890. In 1895 Aiken Gentry purchased 1/2 acre (0.16 km²) from Captain Cranch for $500 dollars which became Winter Park's first public golf course which still plays today at Ascot Country Club under new management with amateur status named after him - Aiken Gentry Winter Park Golf Course Incorporated (now WinterParkGolfClub). In 1916 Drury Riddle bought 1/4 acre (0.24 km²) north of City Hall for $225 dollars which became Drury Riddle Oval which served as a practice field until 1924 when it became regulation size for football games played at Everglades Stadium while also hosting other sports events including swimming and track meets during that time period; this parcel also housed Stonington’s ice cream parlor at 327 S Orange Blossom Trail until its closing in 1984 due to a lack of business during the summertime periods when there was no golf course in operation inWinterpark then either! After World War II many small businesses closed down throughout southern Florida due to competition from Interstate 95 development but some such as the original Stonington’s Ice Cream Parlor remain active today providing employment within our community locally and across Southwest Florida! In 1979 Mayor Harry Schaefer announced plans to develop an immense complex known as "the world's largest ski resort" with over 6 thousand acres (2 thousand hectares) overlooking Lake Okeechobee having been leased outright by EMC Corporation - not realizing that 2 years earlierWinterpark had already opened their own ski resort named "Lake Placid" just south of city limits on State Road 810 east Of state road 81st Avenue (!), later becoming known simply as "Winterpark". With both resorts open concurrent operations caused considerable traffic congestion within city limits with resultant environmental damage along SR 810 & US 41A making what would eventually become I-Drive necessary! During Phase Onea Southwest Florida Economic Development Authority developer Bruce Beemer agreed to purchase WPT&L's share interest in LPGA Professional Golfers' Village -Phase Two began immediately following Beemer's agreement!!! Phase Two ended abruptly on January 14th 1992 after less than two months when local taxpayers were overpaid for their share value resulting in Federal charges totaling $185 million!!!!!!

Winter Park's rich history began with its creation as a small town by veterans of World War I who were stationed in Key Biscayne and Miami Beach during the conflict. They named their new community after Muncie Lodge No. 542 which they had seen active in Ireland during the war years. In 1925, Winter Park became an annex to nearby Dadeland for administrative purposes only; it remained an unincorporated village until 1959 when it became a city under the terms of a annexation agreement between Miami and Dadeland cities that had been negotiated before Dadeland's incorporation intoMiami-Dade County. As part of this agreement, Winter Park received land east of its current downtown core from Miami annexed into county limits east of Indianola Avenue that lay within what is now Overtown and west of Northwest Sixth Street (now University Drive). This land was used for housing development but also served as an agricultural zone providing fresh produce local to residents for their families to eat while they lived near downtownMiami or Key Biscayne
