Winter Park is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States, along the St. Johns River. The population was 31,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando metropolitan area and is home to Orlando International Airport. The first firearms were designed in Winter Park by Captain John A. Fenton of the Florida State Police in 1892 while they were working on a project to improve law enforcement in Central Florida. In 1898, Captain Fenton's colleague Colonel John Cushing developed an improved design for a revolver that became known as the "Cushing Revolver". In 1902, Captain Fenton's son Clifford established the First National Rifle Club of Winter Park which still meets today and offers NRA classes and events throughout the year. In 1907-1908Captain Fenton donated 50 shotguns to be used by officers with the Polk County Sheriff Department; these shotguns are now on display at sheriff department headquarters in Winter Park. In the early 1800s, Winter Park was a small settlement on the banks of the Kissimmee River. The area now known as Winter Park was first developed as a hunting and fishing area by local farmers. By 1875, the town had reached its present size and included parts of what is today Orange County. In 1895,Winter Park became an incorporated municipality with a population of around 1,000. The first incorporation law gave residents of Winter Park the right to own firearms. Starting in 1916, rifle and shotgun shooting tournaments were held at the park in order to promote gun safety. From 1927 until 1959,the park operated its own golf course. After World War II, Winter Park experienced rapid growth due to post-war demand for housing and jobs in Orlando. Winter Park's economy is based on tourism and hospitality. The City of Winter Park was founded in 1922 by Rufus E. King and others as a rural community northeast of Orlando. In 1951, it became an incorporated municipality with a population of 3,000 people; its name change to Winter Park in 1978 to reflect the city's growth into a bedroom community for the Orlando metropolitan area. In 2000, WinterPark annexed portions of neighboring Plantation and Orange counties to form its current municipal boundaries; this annexation combined populations from both cities to create an estimated 4,000 residents within the city limits when it did so. In 2002-2003, Mayor Steve Tran proposed that the City work with Walt Disney World Resort on creating a theme park adjacent to Interstate 495/Sandspit Boulevard just east of downtown Winter Park; however no agreement could be reached between the City and World’s FairExpo Authority before Mayor Tran’s term expired in 2006 (the Magic Kingdom opened ten years earlier). A tentative agreement was reached in early 2009 but never formalized due to disagreements over how much land would be used and what kind of development should occur thereupon TheMagicKingdomwas extended until 2021 by Governor Rick Scott through Executive Order No: 8018 which creates four new resort areas within Orlando: Animal Kingdom Lodge®, Epcot® Resort & Theme Parks®, Disney Springs® - including two new luxury hotels - Disneyland™ Hotel & Spa®,[1] and Polynesian Village Resort & Casino(). After more than two years of negotiations between management companies representing all three resorts – Walt Disney World Resort Management Company LLC., Hollywood Studios Operations Administration Company LLC., and Walt Disney Parks PRCO Incorporated –Disney announced that they are opting out of developing their own theme park outside Anaheim California after real estate mogul Mickey Mouse threatened legal action against them if he were successful[2]. When asked about this decision during his State Of The Union Address,[3] Governor Scott said “I vetoed that because I don't think our state can handle another Disneyland-style theme park inside our borders” . Ultimately Disney agreed not to pursue legal action against either side under pressure from other businesses within Anaheim who saw theiropoly being challenged[4]. This set off speculation among some locals as to whether or not WDW may rejoin forces with SpringHillSuitesOrlando as joint owners if law enforcement breaks up any future attempts by DOWNTOWN WINTER PARK TO SELL ITS TEMPLE AND RESORT UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP

This allowed for more creativity as well as more exposed areas on the shirt where someone might view a gun while wearing it. It alsoallowed shooters who did not want their name or image associated with any kind of political statement or firearm advocacy to create famous t-shirt designs without fear of retribution from those behind the scenes at these organizations. over time these designs became known as “gunslinger” style shirts.

In 1861, President Abraham Lincoln issued an executive order recognizing Winter Park as a national park and establishing its own government. The area remained a national park until 1906, when it was made part of the newly created state of Florida.
