Wilton Manors is a town in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. The population was 8,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale-West Palm Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town of Wilton Manors began as a small agricultural community on the eastern edge of what is now downtown Wilton Manors. In 1887, the first post office in the area opened and named it "Manorville". The name was changed to "Wilton Manors" in 1907 when residents voted to change it from an agriculture village to a town with its own government. The original courthouse and jail were built in 1911 and 1913 respectively. In 1925,Wilton Manors became one of seven townships in Palm Beach County that were combined into one municipality by then Governor Manuel Largo de Conejo. At that time, all municipalities inside of Palm Beach County were municipal corporations with their own governing boards and elections (the other six townships being Boca Raton, Coral Gables, Homestead Heights, Lake Worth Lakeshore, Pompano Beach and West Palm Beach). However, by 1970 all but two out of those seven municipalities had been dissolved (Coral Gables had been merged into Broward County) while Wilton Manors remained an unincorporated township within Palm Beach County until its annexation by Miami-DadeCounty in 2003. On February 14th, 2004 voters passed a referendum which approved annexation by Miami-DadeCounty along with all other local government changes made since 2002 including disbanding many municipals within the county including Wilton Manors This action allowed for full city status for Wilton Manor's entire population over just 2 ½ decades despite having no direct connection to any portion of DowntownMiami or South Miami through which most people live today

After the war ended, many residents decided to move away from Wilton Manor because of changes in political landscape withinFlorida . However, some members of these original community remain today and continue to contribute to its culture and history
