Wilton Manors is a census-designated place in Volusia County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. Wilton Manors was platted on October 24, 1909 by farmers Hurd and Wirthman. The name means "place where many people are gathered." After the death of its founder, Wilton Manor became an agricultural community with a small factory that produced flour for local churches and other businesses. By the early 1920s, however, Wilton Manor had lost much of its economic attractiveness due to increased competition from nearby Orlando and Kissimmee. In 1925, developer Rufus Epps purchased the mill site and began development of what would become one of Orange County's most important towns. Epps built more than fifty thousand square feet (500 m²) of retail space, three schools (two high school grades levels and one post-secondary), a store/bakery/deli complex called "The Gables," two townhouses (now home to several hundred residents), as well as sixteen residence buildings which were completed between 1927 and 1928; all but four were destroyed by fire in 1947 during Hurricane Agnes. From 1929 until his death in 1957, Dr. Averell Harriman served as majority owner of Epps' company - he first acquired shares in it when it was organized into a limited liability company in 1923 before becoming its sole owner seven years later; Harriman left Epps after purchasing the Palm Beach Post from Hearst Corporation's Harry Chandler in 1945 In 1954 Rufus Fenton donated land within walking distance of his office at 4200 Park Boulevard for use as an open-air shopping mall which would bear his name; today's Walmart occupies most of that parcel In 1978 citrus grower Jerald Cray sold all his property within five miles (8 km) including Wilton Manor to Walt Disney World for $375 million Disney converted most or all of those structures into hotel rooms beginning with their initial opening around 1979 followed by other amusement park properties such as Epcot Center throughout the 1990s through 2006

Wilton Manors is a small town in Palm Beach County, Florida. It was founded on August 29, 1914 by Wilton Townsend and his wife Hilda. The townsite is located east of Palm Beach Gardens on the border of Boynton Beach and Jupiter. The population was 5,846 as of the 2010 census[1], up from 4,940 at the 2000 census. The town is named after Wilton Townsend's father-in-law, Wellington Brown. When Gertrude Ewing married Townsend in 1912 she changed her last name to Manors because she had heard that it was more popular than Townsend. The townsite became part of Palm Beach County when it was created from parts of Miami-Dade and Brevard Counties in 1928. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.9 square miles (2 km²), all land.[2] As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 4,940 people, 1,694 households, and 1,153 families residing in the town.
