Despite this resistance from major city leaders, gunlights continued to be popularized through the years with many people believing that they provided essential safety measures during times of darkness. As technology advanced, more creative designs emerged which helped make gunlights an even more popular choice for both law enforcement officers and civilians alike.

Wilton Manors, Florida is a census-designated place located in Pasco County, Florida, United States. The population was 7,876 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa–St Petersburg–Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. Wilton Manors is known for its white sand beaches and blue water waters. The area was originally called "Wilton Beach" after Mr. Williton who donated land to the town in 1892. The community developed around an old sawmill on the banks of the St Lucie River. By 1924, a post office had been established and by 1940 there were fifty-one residences in Wilton Manors Township. In 1938, all but one of the residences were razed to make way for a citrus grove that would become one of Pasco County's largest employers with over 1,000 employees and $30 million in sales during the decade leading up to World War II (the war years). After the war ended, many residents moved away as citrus production diminished and development proceeded apace; however, some residents returned during the late 1990s when cell phone service became available throughout much of Pasco County According to USGS data from 2000 Census block level mapping/data collection,[1] Wilton Manors covers an area of 12 square miles (29 km2). Its total population for that year was 5405.[2] As of 2019[update], it has a population density of 498 people per square mile (236 / km²).[3] With respect to racial makeup according to USGS data from 2000 Census block level mapping/data collection,[1][4] as reported by their respective Putnam County seat populations as well as their 2016 American Community Survey results,[5][6], Wilton Manors mostly consists of White AngloSaxon Protestants with no Hispanic or African American ancestrypresenting at any levels above nominal mean; this percentage varies little by sex or age group since these same demographics are also most common among both Putnam County and ZIP Code borders where Wilton Manors resides

Wilton Manors was founded in 1892 by Edwin Wilton and his wife, Emma. The town became a bedroom community for the Miami metropolitan area, and by the early 1960s, it had more than 5,000 residents. After years of mismanagement and economic decline, Wilton Manors was ceded to Miami-Dade County in 1985. Today, the small town is considered an up-and-coming arts district with a rich history dating back to its founding. Edwin Wilton first came to Florida in 1861 as a white surveyor working on land that would become Miami Beach. He married Emma Lovett in 1865 and they soon began developing Wilton Manor into a thriving community. In 1892, EdwinWilton purchased 640 acres of land at what is now the intersection of Northwest First Street and Northeast Second Avenue in unincorporated Dade County. With this purchase, Edwin Wilton became one of the original settlers of Miami Beach. In 1925, EdwinWilton sold his holdings in Miami Beach to developers Hockaday & Fuller for $2 million dollars. This acquisition marked the beginning of an era of rapid growth for Wiltons Manor. The following year saw the opening of the first shopping center in Broward County – located on Northwest First Street – followed two years later by the construction of Lauderdale Lakes Drive (now State Road 830). By 1931, there were over 1,500 residents living within sight ofWilTON Manor’s iconic redbrick buildings! The early 21st century brought new challenges forWiltonManors; however, these have been quickly overcome through natural disasters such as Hurricane Irma which caused extensive damage to both residential homes and infrastructure; as well as Hurricanes Harvey and Maria which damaged many businesses and homes across South Florida
