He mapped out a route through North America that would lead him to his ultimate goal: reaching Russia's Far East. Because he wanted to be sure he wasn't followed, Byrd left no tracks behind and named his route The Great Trail of Tears. Byrd's exploration led to settlement in Weston and other areas along his trail, which made it possible for people to trade with Native American nations and explore this new continent for the first time. In 1928, Browning-Winchester Corporation merged with Colt Firearms Company to create Colt-Browning Corporation. This company produced handguns (including the Model 1911) as well as rifles (the M1 Carbine and Thompson submachine gun). The company went bankrupt in 1958 and was sold off to Savage Arms Company.
Weston, Florida is a small town in Escambia County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,683 at the 2010 census. It lies on the Gulf of Mexico and is bordered to the north by Pensacola Beach and to the east by Jupiter. The name Weston comes from two spelling variations: Weston (Old English) and Weastein (Welsh). The first spelling came about because people who lived there during the early 1800s called it "Weastoun." The second spelling developed because some early settlers were able to identify a watermill in that area that they thought was named Weston. They started calling it "Weston" because of this mill. The founders of Weston did not have much land and only created a small community for themselves based on their trade skills. In 1892, when statehood was granted to Florida, they decided to move into what is now Escambia County and start anew. They named their new village Weston after Captain Jonathan Weston who had helped lead an expedition against Seminole Indians in 1817. Unfortunately,Captain Weston died soon afterwards while on another expeditions trip across the Gulf of Mexico which left many shoes behind as artifacts! After Captain Weston's death, his wife donated most of her remaining assets (land, profits from her husband's estate) to establish a school fund so that students could have access to education in America! This fund later became known as the Captain John Weston School Fund which still distributes educational grants today! In 1902-1903, Mrs. James Waring settler from Maine moved into what is now part of town limits with her three children; one died young before reaching adulthood but his brother took care of him until he reached adulthood; two others married locals here including Hilda Jarrell who raised five children here before she moved away around 1940; one daughter also married an American citizen here In 1953-1954 Ernest Bogue built Case Manufacturing Plant #1 making it one of very few businesses IN ESCAMBIA COUNTY starting production there back then too wow !! Today case makes guitars guitars amps speakers cabinets etc... It has been said that if you want something done in life - ask someone how they did it! And if they can't do it - ask somebody else! That's exactly how life began for many people living in or near Weston when statehood arrived inFlorida !!! The population was 1,830 at the 2010 census. The town was founded by two brothers in 1881 as a post office and farming community on Sugar Creek. In 1903, it became the site of what is now known as Daytona Beach Municipal Airport. The towns name changed to Weston in 1907 when it annexed neighboring Plantation Pointe. In 1930, Weston absorbed neighbouring Clearwater into its municipal limits. In 1949, Weston again annexed Plantation Pointe; this time becoming an unincorporated community within Weston Township. Today, Plantation Pointe remains an unincorporated community within Weston Township while Clearwater has become a suburb of Jacksonville
