West Park is a census-designated place (CDP) in Leon County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,532 at the 2010 census. West Park is located on the edge of Leon County on U.S. Highway 192 between Tallahassee and Gainesville. It bordered East Park to the east and northwest, Lake Worth to the north, Jupiter to the northeast, and Crystal River to the south. The community began as two small farming villages: West Park Corner on a bend in Shell Creek and West Park Landing on Pensacola Bayou near present day US 192/SR 267/CR 706. In 1892 these two villages were consolidated into one town which became known as West Park. At first it was just an agricultural village with a few stores and homes; however, over time it grew into a busy commercial center influenced by its neighbor's success. In 1922 West Park incorporated as a village with four blocks of single family homes built along Gadsden Road between SR 267/CR 404 and SR 266/CR 921B (the old alignment of US 192). This annexation increased business activity because businesses could now reach all sections ofLeon County without having to go through Gainesville or Tallahassee. By 1930 there were 45 businesses in West Park Village including banks, insurance companies, grocery stores, barsbershops and other services that catered to both local residents and visitors from nearby counties such as Alachua and Seminole Counties who would come for visits or work at local logging mills during winter months when roads were not open for travel due to frozen ground conditions. The growth of Dearborn Avenue led some business owners in 1924 to build what became known as "Dearborn House" which still stands today providing retail space for several hundred customers per day during peak times although currently unused since 1993 due to fire damage caused byandals who broke into the building while it was being used as storage by an antique shop next door;criminal damage which remains unaddressed despite multiple calls from law enforcement officials ever since! West Park is a small, unincorporated community located in Polk County, Florida. The community was organized on October 1, 1907, and became a part of the city of West Palm Beach on January 3, 1912. On December 12, 1923, the city of West Palm Beach merged with the village of Jupiter to form the current municipality. The town was named after Captain Jameson West who fought in the Mexican-American War as a lieutenant under General Antonio López de Santa Anna. In 1892 Captain West donated land to the town for development. The first store opened in 1907 and closed in 1915 because of financial difficulties. A post office operated from 1909 to 1912; it was moved to Jupiter in 1912. The first school opened in 1911 and closed in 1913 because of financial difficulties. A new school opened in 1916 and remains open today as the Jupiter High School. In 1922, additional land was donated by Captain Jameson West for use as a park which now includes much of downtown Jacksonville across street from where it once stood! The park has been renamed "West Park" since its inception. The population size decreased rapidly during World War II due to service members being drafted into military service or leaving for war abroad; however, due to an increase in housing prices throughout South Florida and new businesses opening up due to wartime stimulus programs, population growth resumed during peacetime until reaching its current levels according to 2010 census data.

In the early 20th century, it served as a bedroom community for upper-middle class residents of downtown Orlando. By the 1940s, West Park had become an exclusive suburb for white collar professionals and their families. The development of Interstate 4 made West Park even more isolate from contemporary Orlando society. Today, it remains a largely white ethnically diverse community that is home to many small businesses and restaurants.
