During this period of rapid expansion, much infrastructure were built including two high schools (University High School and Saint Ignatius High School) as well as numerous parks including Ocean Drive Park and Botanical Gardens; all while attracting businesses such as Citrus Lawn Mowers & Equipment Company, Chevrolet dealership, Ford dealership, Lighthouse Marina restaurant and more than one thousand homesites totaling over 100 acres (40 ha). The late 1990s through early 2000s saw an increase in crime rates in the area due to increased drug trafficking activity along I-95 from Mexico City; however these numbers have decreased since then coinciding with overall decreases in local crime rates throughout Broward County overall

In 1912, they sold their interest in the club to Cuban interests for $175,000 and renamed it Havana Bay Club which remain in business today as one of South America's leading social clubs. In 1916 developer Harry Kipperwick developed a tract north of town called Hammock Grove which became home to some of Palm Beach County's earliest subdivisions including Deerfield Beach & vicinity; Windsor Lakes subdivision & vicinity; Belle Glade Heights subdivisions & vicinity; North Kendall subdivision & vicinity; Biscayne Beaches subdivision & locality (later Broward Gardens); Waxahachie Heights subdivisions & locality (later Miramar) - all within easy driving distance from West Melbourne proper via I-95 or US-1B only then becoming accessible by car or bus into town center where services were available to provide access to grocery stores, banks, hospitals and other essential services without ever leaving town limits
