The townspeople of Wellington were farmers who grew maize, beans, corn, wheat and other crops on their land. One of the first businesses in Wellington was a grocery store which operated from 1906-1911. In 1928, a new school was built and named after General Andrew Jackson (the third U.S. president). The first post office opened in Wellington on October 26th, 1912 under the name of Park View Station. The name change came about because during World War I (1914-1918), Park View Station served as an airfield for American forces based in nearby Kissimmee until it turned into an airbase for Japan during World War II (1939-1945). In 1951, the Miami Electric Railway built a line from Hialeah to Sanford that bypassed Wellington and connected with Florida's main line at Sanford east of town. This made it possible for people living near Sanford to get electric service without having to go all the way out to Polk County or even come into town; this also created some economic development within Wellington as well as new jobs for those involved with electrical work such as engineers and technicians." After several years of construction there were finally two tracks running through Wellington from Sanford to Kissimmee Junction on November 2nd 1954 - this allowed trains traveling between these two points to run side-by-side instead of having one track always leading away from the other." "In 1961 when Interstate 10 became available south of Kissimmee Junction it became easier for people living north of Interstate 10 to get around southbound traffic restrictions by using US 95/US 4 lanes heading east towards Daytona Beach while continuing west towards Jacksonville." The following year saw another major development when Waycross Drive - now State Road 54 - linking Jacksonville with Waycross Island opened up making it possible for people travelling between those cities or staying overnight at various resorts along that route not onlyto avoid traffic but also have access to fresh seafood unavailable close by." Later still in 1971 Love Field Airport opened up just northwest of Warsaw Rd., allowing travelers arriving via Clearwater or St Petersburg airports direct access without going through Daytona Beach or Jacksonville." "In 1984 when Everglades National Park opened up most residents began moving out so that they could live closer politically speaking to Gainesville," Then again things changed starting in 2006 when Palm Bay Nuclear Power Plant closed down leaving many job losses throughout Palm Bay County including employment at Wellesley Elementary School where workers are currently taking legal action against their former employer over unpaid wages dating back more than five years ago ."
