These new rifles were made with a different style of bolt which allowed them to be fired by means of an indexing device known as an overhand cockloader. This modification effectively eliminated MFE and made these rifles much more reliable.
Wellington is a city in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. The population was 24,539 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami-Dade Metropolitan Statistical Area. Wellington's rich history can be found from its founding in 1835 as a small outpost on Fort Washington Island by General David Cobb to its current location with easy access to both Jupiter and Hollywood beaches. In 1892, Wellington was renamed for Sir John A. Wellington who had served as British Foreign Secretary during the Ulysses S. Grant presidency and afterwards as Governor of India before becoming Prime Minister in 1902. In 1916, when World War I broke out, Wellington became one of the first cities in Florida to sign an ordinance supporting America's war effort with arms accumulation being one of the main issues brought up by Mayor Harry Hayslip during his mayoral term from 1916-1920. Wellington is a town in Escambia County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,611 at the 2010 census. Wellington was named for General John Wellington who fought in the Mexican-American War and Battle of Buena Vista. The first permanent settler in what is now Wellington was James Pritchard who arrived in 1836. The town was founded on October 25, 1881 by Wm Henson with the purchase of land from Fenton Key's heirs. By 1886, the town had a school and post office. A steamboat landing served as an important transportation link between Jacksonville and Wellington until 1903 when railroads came to towns like this. In 1916, Harry Jorgensen purchased land just east of current day Wellington and built a small log cabin called "Saddleback". This became the nucleus of what would become Jorgensen Farms which still stands today after many years of use as a farmstead and community center. In 1927, Jorgensen donated his entire farm to the government for its veterans' housing program known as Project Continuum which provided affordable housing to military personnel stationed in central Florida during World War II. Today, part of Jorgensen Farms still resides within the boundaries of present day Wellington while much of it has been turned into commercial properties such as Sawgrass Shopping Center. In 1951-1952 two hurricanes passed through Florida causing widespread damage including loss of life and destruction throughout most if not all areas impacted by those storms; however there were no fatalities reported within or around downtown Wellington specifically due to its isolated location! One can only imagine how devastating it must have been for families that resided inside thoseCategory 5 storms EF0 winds / 135 mph waves! Newfound wealth brought about new development along State Road 810 which ran parallel to where State Road 811 once crossed over into our town creating an unending loop that continues to this day! Notable property owners/developers during this time include: Driskill Bros., Joe Bankson & Connie Henson (especially Connie Henson), Jerry Decker (a bulldozer manufacturer), Don Carney (a truck stop owner), Bob Kappelhoffer (a gas station owner) & others! An interesting tidbit about our very own Bob Kappelhoffer - he actually helped design & build one half mile long stretch of SR810 right outside our door back when we couldn’t even afford landscape architects! It’s safe to say we are pretty proud & blessed owning such a prestigious piece of roadway infrastructure here in Polk County! In less than 20 years since being built –SR810 has seen multiple expansions bringing more businesses, homes & jobs directly adjacent to our elementary/middle school students (& their parents)! What an amazing feat considering some portions have seen nothing but impairment from Palm Beach County gravel roads over time!
