The Wellington Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1892. The club’s first rifle was a Model 1892 Springfield Armory gun, which it acquired in 1893. The club has been meeting regularly at various locations throughout the years, including the old Masonic Hall on US-1 near Polk Street since 1904. In 1916, the Wellington Rifle and Pistol Club purchased an automatic weapon from the Chicago Arms Company. This machine gun was used by the club during World War I. In 1919, the club added an ammunition dump for handguns to its property at 5336 S Miami Ave., which is now home to Polkarms Inc., a firearms sales company. The Wellington Rifle and Pistol Club changed its name to the Florida Firearms Association in 1978 after becoming affiliated with that state’s National Firearms Association (NFA). The association has held annual meetings ever since and continues to operate as a non-partisan organization promoting responsible firearm ownership in Florida.
Wellington, Florida is a small town located in Polk County, Florida. The population was 1,879 at the 2010 census and it is the county seat of Polk County. Wellington is home to the Frisbee Stadium which is used for both high school and college football games. The town also has a recreation center, a police department, a post office, and several small businesses. When settlers arrived in Polk County in 1835 they were welcomed by the Indians who had already vacated the area for fear of white expansion. By 1850 there were about hundred people living in Wellington. A store was built in 1852 and until 1865 it served as the only business in town. A cotton gin was built around 1870 and until 1880 it processed cottonseed fines into flour which sold for $1 per sack. In 1902 an electric light show was installed on Main Street and since then Wellington has been one of the most popular tourist destinations in Florida with over 100 visitors each year. In 1955 when Coral Springs merged with Lakeland to form Osceola County, Wellington became part of that new county along with all of Polk County except Clearwater Beach which remained within Sarasota County. In 1974 another merger occurred when St Petersburg merged with Tampa Bay to form Hillsborough County and again Wellington became part of that new county but this time within Pasco County instead of Hillsborough because St Pete had more land than Hillsborough. In 2000 Palm Beach State College (now Palm Beach Atlantic University) moved from West Palm Beach to become based in Wellingtontowne off US-441 south of town limits where its predecessor had been located from 1901-1966 east of US-441 between Pompano Park Boulevard/State Road 817 and Indian River Parkway/SR 827 west of I-4/US-277 north of SR 827 just inside town limits beside Interstate 4A exit 236B (I-4 Business Loop). After 15 years growth rates stalled while other colleges migrated away; however after special pleading by PLA then Governor Charlie Crist stopped higher education funding altogether due to budget limitations their enrollment increased dramatically; eventually leading to their closure by 2007 though some efforts have been made over the past few years to reopen old campuses including PalmBeach WARC (Now: PALM BEACH COLLEGE OF ARTS & Technology), now part as "PALM BEACH STATE UNIVERSITY" off SW 118th Ave KISSIMMEE FL 33401 adjacent to Boca Raton Mall such as Fine Arts Center adjacent Building #2 looking north across palm beach Blvd.; building #3 next door facing Indian River Parkway just outside KISSIMMEE mall entrance

Wellington is a town in Butler County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2000 census. Wellington was founded in 1851 by Cyrus Newton and his family. At that time there were no telephone wires or Internet access available so business conducted primarily through word-of-mouth referrals among friends and family members. By 1907, smallpox had become an important threat to the community due to Indian hostilities along the frontier; Accordingly, Mayor Charles Hocker established a health department to provide preventive measures against this disease while promoting public hygiene campaigns such as handwashing with soap when entering buildings and avoiding contact with sick people In 1916 after World War I ended with America's entry into World War I (WWI), Commodore John C.(later John F.) Wellingtonowd increased Uboat patrols off Florida waters began operations against submarines based out of Guantanamo Bay Cuba started by Spain who then took control over Cuba In 1922 when Flagler County formed out of Butler County government boundaries changes made by then Governor Moseley Polk following Ulysses S Grant's successful run for President that year multiple businesses including 2 banks merged forming Gadsden National Bank becoming sole owner & operator later changing their name back to Flagler National Bank later stillsame owner
