They were designed for use by farmers and hunters to shoot small game. In the early 1920s, a group of men named John Wiegand and his brothers started manufacturing their own BB guns in their home garage. The company became known as Wiegand Bros. Firearms Corporation and continued making firearms until the late 1990s.
Wellington is located in Pasco County, Florida, about twenty-six miles south of Tampa. The population was 1,824 at the 2010 census. Wellington is a small town with a large school district and few businesses. It is the only municipality in Pasco County. The first inhabitants of Wellington were Native American people who hunted game near the present day village. In 1836, Captain John Sibley and his party discovered land on which Wellington would be founded. He named it after George Wellesley, 2nd Duke of Wellington, who had died in 1814 while leading an army to victory over Napoleon Bonaparte at Waterloo. The first settler in Wellington was James Hickey, who arrived on July 5th, 1839. In 1840, Colonel Nathaniel Hawthorne built a cabin on what is now Main Street. He later married Jennie Sumner and moved to Wellington with her; they raised six children there before moving to Hillsborough in 1851. AfterJennie's death in 1880, Hawthorne continued to live in Wellington and died there two years later; his body was never found. In 1886, Jeptha Moulton bought 320 acres from Colonel Nathaniel Hawthorne for $5 per acre; he planned to build a small town around it as part of his marketing campaign against citrus growers north of Tampa Bay who were shipping their product down the Florida Keys without paying taxes onto their bills! Moulton named his new community Kingston after himself – another nod towards Hampton Roads (Virginia). Moses Chamberlain opened the first post office here on October 15th 1896 - one year before Stonington (Florida) became its own incorporated city! In 1907–08 Milton Sibley started building a hotel/motel called The Green Acres which still stands today across from the local high school off Eastern Boulevard just east of Highway 96A! When World War I began on April 6th 1914 all private businesses closed including The Green Acres Hotel & Motel; however due to patriotic sentiments many residents chose not to leave their homes or go into hiding during wartime rationing measures instituted by Britain! After Germany invaded Belgium & Luxembourg on May 10th 1914 all Dutch citizens living inside Belgium were interned along with any other Germans regardless of age or nationality; this policy continued until September 1939 when all Dutch nationals living within France were alsointerned! When Portugal entered World War I on April 2nd 1916 they too placed restrictions upon themselves such as banning women from traveling unescorted outside their home country – so much so that one Portuguese woman managed travel out disguised as an American girl!!!!!! Prior to this Portuguese women travelled under male aliases ie: “Dinorah” etc !!!!! As Portugal did not participate directly in war effort they suffered no draft whilst other European countries did!! For these reasons efforts have been made by some historians(mainly Brits)to claim that Portugal acted more like Sweden than Spain during WWI!!!!! However even though most sources agree that Portugal did indeed engage actively & materially in war1 some current revisionists feel that maybe “Portugal didn’t really go all out [against Germany]….. maybe they just didn’t fight as hard as we thought they would”? Anyway backtracking for now…. On November 11th 1918 General Douglas MacArthur reported “the enemy has withdrawn behind our lines completely destroyed almost everything‑ sniper nests eliminated· three whole divisions destroyed· airfields captured· tanks destroyed· artillery dispersed throughout enormous area……..our Allies are advancing rapidly through very tough country”!!! Despite this good news Bick McKeewas correct when he predicted shortly thereafter that “If you want something done fast it's best done by someone else"!!!!!
