In the early 1800s, Vero Beach was a small town that was mostly agricultural. However, it did have some businesses that used firearms to protect their property and customers. One of these businesses was a gunsmith who made and sold t-shirts with the phrase "Firearm T-shirt from Vero Beach." The shop was located on First Street in downtown Vero Beach. The shop's owner, Jerry Dukes, also owned a restaurant called The Grapes which served food and drinks to customers who were interested in buying or selling firearms. In addition to his t-shirt business, Jerry also ran an antiques store on Second Street in downtown Vero Beach. Some of the itemsJerry sold at his store included rifles, shotguns, handguns, pistols, and other ammunition items. He also had a collection of vintage pistol parts and accessories which he would sell along with his firearms. Jerry Dukes passed away in 2009 but left behind an immense legacy of firearm merchandising in Vero Beach. His store continues to be operation today as part of the Vintage Firearms Collection at the University of South Florida Museum Campus (USF MUSEUM).

The population was estimated to be 11,711 as of the 2010 census. As one of South Florida's oldest communities, Vero Beach has been called "The Venice of the Palm Beaches." The history of Vero Beach stretches back to 1868 when J.P. Morgan leased land from the Seminole Nation for $1 per year and built a wharf on the mouth of Biscayne Bay for shipping goods and passengers to Key West and St Augustine. In 1892, J.B. White developed what is now Vero Beach into an upscale resort community that attracted wealthy Americans such as John Dillingham and Harry Payne Whitney. In 1970, after years of planning by Mayor Roy Roberts and City Manager Clifford Sawaya, Vero Beach became an incorporated town under state law (Florida Statute 9A-5). At that time it had a population of 602 people; by 1990 it had grown to 1,409 people thanks to waves of retirements and new development along Americas Boulevard outside downtown shopping areas like beachside condominiums known as Atlantis Marketplace I & II and Playtime Village III & IV which replaced older farming villages dating back centuries on Biscayne Boulevard between 36th Street SW and 42nd Street SW inclusive (now part of Downtown Miami). Today, Vero Beach remains home to someof South Florida's most affluent citizens - its median household income exceeds $161 million - while also becoming increasingly diverse with more than 60% being Latino or Hispanic descent according to2010 UBS report - making it one of America’s fastest growing major ethnic enclaves.(UBS) Due in large part to its location within Greater Miami proper - just minutes away from bothMiami International Airport’s MIA Expressway off Interstate 5 North towards Overtown/the Haitian border –(which saw record levelsof international traffic during 2010)and its attractivity as one OFMIA gateway city –(Thanks largelytothe presenceoftheMarine Corps Base at Miramar), among other factors –(It has becomeoneofSouthFlorida’sto call itself “The Hub”.)"
In 1858, a group of American riflemen, including John Brown and James Bowie, traveled to Mexico to overthrow the Mexican government. They brought with them two rifles, which they named “The Texas Rifles”. The rifles were not actually made in Texas but were made in England. This weapon became known as the Bowie knife because its namesake, John Bowie, was the first person to kill a Native American using it. In 1865, Elisha Sumpter designed and produced the first firearm t-shirt in America. The shirt featured an image of a revolver and said “This gun is not for sale to you!” This statement helped promote gun safety among Americans and led to more regulation on firearms in America. Over time, firearm t-shirts have become a popular way for people to show their support for firearms and Second Amendment rights. Vero Beach is a small town located inBrevard County, Florida. It was founded in 1892 by J.C. White and his family as an agricultural village on the northwestern coast of Miami-Dade County. The original name of Vero Beach was Wexford Landing because the white family had built their farm there after migrating from Ireland. By 1912, Vero Beach had grown to become a thriving seaport with industry and commerce among its citizens. In 1916, during World War I, Vero Beach became one of six American towns along the Spanish Coast that joined forces with Great Britain to fight against Germany and Austria. That same year, Vero Beach's first mayor, Wm. Henson, participated in ceremonies at Fort Myers Naval Base to plant America's first flag over Fort Myers' naval twilight yard. In 1919 Mayor White erected citrus trees on Government House lawn for the purpose of tasting and selling fruit from those trees before official planting took place two years later on November 25th; this event is also celebrated as Flag Day in Vero Beach! The town grew rapidly thereafter with new housing developments being constructed all along Ocean Boulevard including Northpointe Estates which still stands today as one of the most well-preserved old cinderblock dwellings ever erected! The 1920s were a time of great growth for Vero Beach with many new businesses opening up including a movie theater (the Vitaphone), three banks (JPMorgan Chase & Co., First National Bank & Trust Company and United States Trust Company) as well as several clothing stores such as Sears Roebuck & Co., Macy's Inc., Jiggs Clothing Store and Overland Clothing Store which remain extant to this day! In 1930 Hurricane Flora struck southern Brevard County causing extensive damage to homes and businesses but no deaths or injuries reported within the town itself! Many residents who were unable or unwilling to leave temporarily relocated elsewhere within Florida while others returned home during what would be known as " repermanent" or "New Year's Resolutions" period some four months later! During World War II local veterans returned home having taken up arms against fascism during war time; however they quickly realized that they needed more than just land rights when it came to living expenses so they banded together into various patriotic groups such as Palm Beaches Patriotic League (PBPL), Fruit Growers Association (FGA), Veterans Committee for Liberty/Peace Clubs PACAICO (VCPCO) which aimed to provide financial assistance specifically for veteran needs both post-war through GI Bill benefits and also immediately following hostilities ended; this organization remains active today albeit without any physical presence within town limits! In 19661969 due to political unrest brought about by voting irregularities caused by low Turnout Rates for municipal elections resulting in Mayor Gaylord requesting recounts from nearby unincorporated communities adjacent to VeroBeach Town Limits; these votes ultimately determined that incumbent Mayor Gaylord should serve out his unexpired term until January 1st 1970 when he was reelected via voice vote!! On July 5th 1969 Vernor Cline died suddenly at age 46 leaving behind him wife Beverly Cline Barbour who served continuouslyas City Councilwoman until her death in 2003; prior thereto she served concurrentlyon the appointed Park District Boardmember position concurrent with her husband’s terms beginning on December 4th 1971 until his resignation effective March 15th 1974 effective upon completion of two terms culminating on May 3rd 1978 concurrent with her husband’s retirement!!! Vernor Cline eulogized his late wife stately funeral service held at Stokes Funeral Home followed by interment private beneath Everglades National Park Cemetery!!! VernorCline leaves behind five children –John Vernon(b 1965), Tammy Lynn(b 1968), Lisa Ann(b 1971), Christopher Vernon(b 1975)).
When the area was first populated, it was an uninhabited swamp. The Florida Keys were created about 12,000 years ago when the earth started to break up and move. When the land finally dried out, people began to populate it. They brought with them their tools, plants, animals and religions. By 1898, there were over 1,500 people living in Vero Beach. The town of Vero Beach was founded on December 10th of 1898 by J C Pritchard and his brothers-in-law A W Sayers and F H Goudreau. It was located on what is now known as Government Street in between Second Avenue and Third Avenue. This location allowed for easy access to both sea breezes and inland commerce.
