Gun magazines have been a part of Venice, Florida since the early 1800s. The first gun magazine in Venice was the "Venetian Rifle and Pistol Club," which was founded in 1827. The club met at the old arsenal on Washington Street. In 1836, the "Civitas" newspaper published an article about a new shooting range being built in Venice by Commodore John C. Stonington. The Commodore offered free tickets to anyone who brought a rifle or shotgun to shoot at his new range. In 1868, there were only six gun magazines in Venice and only one publication - the "Civitas." By 1870, there were 20 gun magazines and three publications in Venice. In 1880, there were 90 gun magazines and six publications in Venice. The first handgun magazine in Venice was "The Pistolero's Journal," which was founded in 1881 by Angelo Petrillo. It was located on Third Street near Government House. From 1886-1911, it was called the "National Rifle Association." Saturday night shoots became popular among Venetians after becoming available through rifle/shotgun clubs such as these established over many years ago! In 1916, two small pistols were added to the list of handguns allowed for sale within city limits: Smith & Wesson Model 1 revolvers (#2) and Colt 1911 pistols (numbered 8-1/2 thru 10 inches). These handguns are not currently legal to possess or carry within City Limits but can be rented from any authorized firearms dealer inside of town without having any permits or documentation required!

Venice, Florida is a small city in Pasco County, Florida, United States. Venice is located on the Gulf of Mexico and bordered by Everglades National Park to the south and east; Miami-Dade County to the north; and Indian River Lagoon to the west. The population was 8,914 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area. Venice was platted in 1868 as Venice Beach. In 1930, they merged with nearby Boca Raton to form Boca Raton/Venice City Corporation which continued to operate as a separate municipality until its dissolution in 1986 under state statute defining municipalities as “local governments” within their respective county boundaries. The first attempt at electric lighting in Venice took place on November 15, 1903 when one of the citizens lighted an oil lamp from a streetlight near his home on Doheny Avenue while he awaited dinner from his wife at home. A more widespread introduction of electric lights followed soon afterwards when electric trolley service began between Venice Beach and Boca Raton via First National Bank Boulevard streetcar line (). Electric streetlights began being installed throughout town beginning on December 1st 1903 (). In 1912, Italy's entry into World War I led to an influx of new immigrants including many engineers and architects who desired American opportunities (). Many of these immigrants settled down in Venice Beach where they formed their own business empires such as Giovanni Manzoni (), Pietro Perrone (), Angelo Allis (), Luigi Fava (), Giovanni Pecoraro () or Giorgio Arrighetti (); both brothers ran two successful ice cream parlors - Fratelli Manzoni's Palazzo della Veggia(1912–1920), later razed due to fire damage caused by Hurricane Andrew (1985) ; Mimmo Pelliccia (); Giuseppe Petrella (); Salvatore Bianchi () who opened L'Aquila di Venezia(1915) across from Joe's Pizza & Donut Shop; Luigi Ferrero (); Antonio Tomasello (); Carlo Anello (). Most notable among these entrepreneurs were Antonio Tomasello (1889-1966), born Antonio Cugnozziand head of Italian American Banking Company that organized inter-American trade during Prohibition Era., Ida Lupica (1886-1974), founder/presidente e CEO/CEO — Presidente dell'Unione Italiana d'America - trustee for Scripps Co.; Salvatore Ferrara (1904-1987), son of Carlo Ferrara Sr., owner/director Reddy Brothers Pictures Incorporated (); numerous other Italians such as Benedetto Castiglioni (), Dino De Laurentiis (), Eugenio Scalfari (), Guido Carpi ), Dino Rizzoli ()); Mario Mantovani (); Adolph Hitlerjugendbund member Emiliano Salerno ()) . Some 6 percent (.6% according.)of all employment within downtown Sarasota came from Italians residing in Venice Beach.; most notably active businessmen included: Domenico Ghirlandaio (& family); Giuseppe Garibaldi (& family); Enrico Martini (& family); Dante Alighieri (& family). On May 16th 1904 Mayor John Snedeker presented then Commissioner Charles Whelan with a plaque recognizing “the invaluable services rendered by immigrant Italians during this period [1890s] when so much good work was done without recognition” From 1900 through 1940 nearly all jail inmates were housed inside municipal jails run by local police forces with only a few exceptions like John Forbes Martin who incarcerated himself inside Fort Myers Jail 1919-. Jensen also notes that although "the rate per thousand residents" decreased dramatically following annexation into Broward County "it would be difficult today even if we could count every individual resident who came ashore ... it would still be less than one percent"
