Titusville, Florida is a small town in Hillsborough County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa-St Petersburg-Clearwater metropolitan area. Titusville is located on US1 and State Road 810. The name "Titusville" was given to the community by Colonel John C. Titus during World War II as part of the military post name program which honored American war veterans. The first settler in Titusville was Elisha Gooding who purchased land east of US1 in 1892. He named his new home "Gooding's Grove." In 1907, Elmer Waddell moved to Titusville from Mobile and opened a grocery store on Clinton Street called Waddell's Grocery and Fine Merchandise Store. In 1924, Waddell donated land to build a school for local children known as Gooding School that still exists today as Gooding Middle School. In 1928, Mrs. Florence Aiken donated $5,000 for construction of a church which now stands as First Baptist Church of Titusville (). Reverend Joicey Green built the first sanctuary for worship within the community in 1951 (). A cotton gin was built by James Hargrave in 1906 and became operational two years later when he began processing cotton for Stonington Farms (later Monsanto). One of the first businesses established in TitusVILLE was Denny's Bar & Grill which operated from 1946 to 1968 inside what is now Captain Louie's restaurant on SR 810 south of US 1 south of downtown . The building presently houses an art gallery and gift shop called "The Gallery". On October 30th 1978 residents voted 3-to-1 to dissolve their city government effective November 5th due to financial problems caused by high taxes not being paid by eminent domain given to developers who then rezoned the property into housing development having no plans or ability ever to return it back into agricultural use again since they had already taken over all other uses currently present within town limits including 2 stores - KFC - 5 restaurants - 3 bars - 2 pool halls - 1 bowling alley - 4 gas stations

Titusville is a town in Jefferson County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,568 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville–St. Augustine Metropolitan Statistical Area and is located on the St. Johns River. Titusville was founded in 1881 by Captain John Houstoun and his family, who named it after their father-in-law, Titus Taylor. The first post office in Titusville was established in 1882 and served as the junction for two wagon roads that ran through the area: US 1 from Jacksonville to Gainesville and US 84 from Stonington to Melbourne. In 1886, James Gentry built a gristmill on Fenimore Street which became one of eastern Florida's largest mills until it closed in 1984. In 1898, Harry Easley developed a cotton plantation east of town which he named "Easley's Cotton Plantation". The name has been used intermittently since then as different businesses have had access to it. In 1907, Edwin Ladd purchased 160 acres (65 hectares) of land northwest of town along Islamorada Creek for $10 per acre; this would become known as "Ladd's Beach" because it sat on an undeveloped beach that later became known as Titusville Beach State Park. In 1916, Ladd donated another 160 acres (65 hectares) to the city of Jacksonville for use as parkland; this would become known as "City Park". On October 25, 1922 – three days before Thanksgiving – Hurricane Andrew struck Tampa Bay resulting in extensive damage to buildings and infrastructure across much of central Florida including Titusville; however no injuries were reported in Titusville due to its relatively safe location relative to other towns within hurricane hit areas such as Apalachicola and Sarasota . On December 3rd 1922 – two days after Andrew made landfall – construction began on what would become known as "Titusville Memorial Stadium", which would accommodate up to 12 football teams with a grandstand capable of seating 100 spectators; this allowed Florida A&M University (now Tallahassee Atlantic Coast University) to play its first game there against Mercer University on November 15th 1923 under new stadium rules that allowed NCAA Division I schools only ten plays each game without interrupting play between games so long as they played at least one home opponent within seventy-two hours following their matchday visit thereto . With football being considered an important part of American culture at the time, many other colleges followed A&M's lead soon thereafter . The stadiums were completed in 1926 and 1927 respectively and were used by both Tallahassee Atlantic Coast University (then TAPU) until 1973 when ACC merged with Southern state university system making TAPU an official school again . At present day there are multiple fields throughout downtown TitusVILLE called 'Titus Field' or simply 'The Stadium'. Many events throughout history have taken place at The Stadium including national championships like Super Bowl XXXIV played here 04/24/2002 vs New England Patriots & 01/01/2007 vs Colts In 2003 Mayor Rick Scott dedicated The Stadium’s 85th birthday anniversary while also thanking all those who have helped make it such an iconic destination over the years: “Thank you for your support!
