Titusville is a city located in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 31,441 at the 2010 census. It lies about 20 miles (32 km) east of Gainesville and 15 miles (24 km) west of Jacksonville. The city is named after General James H. Knox, who fought in the American Revolution and was later Governor of Florida. In 1851, Elisha Gray built a mill on the east side of town to produce flour for local farmers. In 1858, John Cavanaugh built a sawmill on the west side of town as well. These mills were soon converted into firearms factories; Titusville became one of Florida's leading manufacturers of rifles and shotguns until it closed its doors in 1957. Today there are only two remaining buildings from these earlier days: the old Gray Mill and Cavanaugh Sawmill Museum which are both open to the public for tours every day from 9AM to 5PM during summertime. The first gun target company in Titusville was established by Captain Aiken in 1865 when he leased land from William Troup at what is now Third Street and High Street. Captain Aiken's targets were made out of pine logs with small holes bored through them so that shooters could aim at them accurately without taking their eyes off the road or else hitting something else entirely! Between 1870-1873 Captains Charles Swift & Jno Payne operated three separate gunslingers’ traps near where Third Street meets High Street – this trap system allowed citizens living within easy gunshot range (within 3 blocks or less!)of military grade rifles/shotguns to participate without ever having to leave their homes! What an ingenious idea – had this been done decades ago, many people may not have died due to gunfire…or maybe they would have just taken precautions like wearing helmets? In addition to rapidly expanding suburbanites seeking escape from more congestion- choked Jacksonville proper during this time frame - those who resided within city limits could continue enjoying access to all that downtown Orlando had to offer without having too much impact on daily life or traffic conditions - other businesses began moving into newly annexed areas such as Airport Boulevard between I-95/SR 744E & US 41W - making this formerly sleepy corner of town one not only full of new business opportunities but also one heavily populated with some exciting things happening each day thanks primarily to burgeoning housing prices being enjoyed by locals alike! The influx began slowly but steadily gaining momentum over time culminating almost two decades ago when then Mayor LeMieux spearheaded an effort neighboring Clearwaterto annex what was once known as Airport Boulevard into their own municipality giving residents access not just to downtown Orlando but also much needed additional services unavailable or inconveniently located within city limits such as Interstate 95/SR 744E & US 41W Gated Community

In 1837 AD, John Brown invented his early gas-fired musket which allowed people to take real life shots at paper guns instead of relying on chance bullet strikes. The name of the town comes from Titus Plantation, which was located in what is now the center of town. Titusville was founded in 1892 by John H. Titus and his brother-in-law, Elias Boudreau. It was originally called "New Smyrna". The first post office in Titusville opened on June 15, 1892. The name of the town changed to "Titusville" on December 3, 1893 after John H. Titus' death. The first store in town was built by A.J., son of Elias Boudreau on Main Street just east of present day US Route 97S (now SR 875). In 1915, the Atchison Butter and Cheese Railroad came through Titusville and started selling butter from a stop near today's intersection of US Routes 97S and 38E (then known as Watermelon Road). This made it possible for people to buy groceries without having to go too far away from home or travel downriver to get their goods from local stores. In 1923, President Warren Harding visited Titusville while campaigning for reelection and stopped at one of the local stores before continuing his campaign trip via train back upriver to Knoxville On October 12th 1922 two young boys were playing outside their house when they saw an open wagon with some food inside that had been abandoned by its driver earlier that day on Highway 9A about 10 miles north of downtown TitusVILLE They entered into possession of this wagon and drove it back home where they cooked breakfast for their parents before giving it back to its original driver who then took it back eastbound on Highway 9A . After this incident public attention turned towards highway development along 9A so developers began building more businesses along existing streets rather than creating new ones

Titusville was founded in 1892 by George W. Titus as a small community on the banks of the St. Johns River. The town became an important center for cotton production, and its residents developed a strong agricultural tradition. In 1932, Titusville was incorporated as a city, and it has since grown into one of Florida's largest cities.
