Titusville, Florida is home to one of the last remaining shotgun gun sights in the United States. The sight was first manufactured by Savage Arms in 1892 and has been in continuous production ever since. It is a simple design, consisting of a small black dot on a white background, that allows shooters to aim at targets with precision. The sight is still used today by many law enforcement officers and hunters alike as it provides great accuracy when firing shotguns.

Titusville’s first firearm sight was a colonial-era mounted cannon. The site of the first rifle range in Titusville is still unoccupied and undeveloped, but evidence suggests that it may have been located on the present day corner of Third and Main Streets. In 1837, the first gunnery school in Titusville was established by Colonel John H. Garvey and his wife Lucy. Classes were offered at their home until 1840 when they moved to an upstairs bedroom at 404B Second Street. From 1840 to 1851, classes were held at the Masonic Temple on State Road 471 east of town. In 1851, Garvey donated land on what is now Fourth Street for a public shooting range which became known as Garvey Range. In 1875, Captain Wm. Fenton opened a foundry on Harrison Street west of town which manufactured firearms including rifles and pistols for use by farmers and hunters in the region. This business continued until 1903 when it closed due to lack of patronage from customers who preferred imported firearms instead. From 1903 until 1918, guns were produced at the Easley Arsenal which was located on Church Avenue north of town (now part of University Park). The arsenal made all types of small arms including machineguns, artillery pieces and shotguns as well as pistols and revolvers for law enforcement agencies throughout Florida and Georgia . Production ceased during World War I due to wartime rationing however continued afterwards through Prohibition with production ending in 1933 . The last gun manufacturing operation in Titusville took place from 1935-1936 when two mills were built adjacent to each other on Railroad Boulevard just south of town center . These mills turned out breechloading shotguns called “Pineapple Guns” due to their unique design featuring a pineapple shaped receiver which allowed rounds to be extracted without having them break open like many other designs then available
Titusville is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,491 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first post office in Titusville was established on December 7, 1868. The name of the town originated from Titus Creek which flows through it. Titusville has been inhabited by Native Americans for over 4,000 years and is thought to be built on an ancient trading route between Tampa Bay and WestFlorida Territory. A landing site for Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de León was discovered here in 1513 while exploring Florida's eastern coast; this led to the naming of what would become Titusville after him in 1664. In 1795, surveyor James Robertson reported that he could find no natural water supply near Titusville so he began construction of a cistern on nearby Trinity Lake and named it Trinity River after his Episcopal bishopric in England (later renamed Metro Stations Park). On October 20, 1824, President James Ketchum issued a proclamation naming Titusville as one of five towns within newly formed Volusia County with legal interests in Indian land remaining unceded by Congress following their Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek (1821). This proclamation also erected a public fence around Trinity River prohibiting trespassers from entering or leaving without permission from local officials. In 1827, when Seminole Chief Osceola attacked Ft. Moselle during American Indian War hostilities near present-day Sanford, Orange County Sheriff John Cocala ordered all male Indians living east of US 21 west of CR 264 to leave their homes; those who did not leave were turned into slaves and marched northward into Seminole Nation territory under Governor Pedro Menéndez de Avilés y Arellano until they reached Fort Gibson about 100 miles northeast of present-day Titusville where they were sold into slavery before being returned home to their respective families two years later under Gov’t order (see History: Seminoles vs Utes). As part Southeastern Florida grew increasingly cotton-based during the antebellum period plantations became more prevalent throughout much of central Florida ; sugarcane production ceased along mostuvial soils near rivers flowing east-west throughout this region due to advances made by British agriculturists; however citrus production continued until well into the 19th century along coastal Plainee Creek valley floor adjacent to Everglades National Park southwesterly boundary then gradually shifted inland towards Kissimmee Valley resulting finally in citrus groves on Biscayne Bay off NW corner Of Miami & Fort Lauderdale Island Today’s Escambia Co Rd #1 intersecting US Hwy 1 just south side Of Plantation House Plantation circa 1840 That original tractor stop sign still standing

In 1847, Samuel Colt patented his revolving cylinder gun, which featured a self-contained breech block that allowed guns to be fired multiple times with single shots. This feature led to the development of the revolver, which firing multiple rounds with one simultaneous pull of the trigger became popular in the 1860s.
Titusville is a small town located in Polk County, Florida. The population was 1,868 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area and has an agricultural economy. Titusville was founded in 1853 by surveyors working for the Seminole Tribe of Indians as a trading post on the Suwannee River. The name "Titusville" comes from Latin and means "place where Titius had his farm." The first store in Titusville was built on Main Street in 1855 by Julius Cates and Wm. Fenton. A post office called Titusville was established in 1857, and remained open until 1907. In 1860, Augustus Woodward erected a frame house on what is now First Street near US-1 to serve as the courthouse for Polk County. In 1865, local resident James Dolan donated land to build a church, which became known as St John's Church or simply "Dolan's Chapel." The city of Titusville was incorporated on December 12, 1905. In 1916, during World War I, Titusville became home to America's first overseas training camp for American troops called Camp Funston (later Camp Victory). More than 100 U.S., British and Canadian troops were trained here during World War I under command of General John J Pershing. After the war ended in 1918, Camp Funston reverted back to its original name: Camp Knox (later Fort McHenry National Military Park). In 1951, parents of students at Grace Bible School set up their own school after finding no other public schools open for children in their community south of Interstate 95. That same year saw the opening of Graces Playground & Rec Area on acres that once housed Triton Oil Refinery No 2 according to oral history research done by Drs Jessen Karpinski and Donny Weichert with funding from Friends Of Titusville Historical Railroad Museum Foundation Incorporated In 1953 Orange Blossom Pipeline connected Miami Lakes with Orlando bringing with it huge quantities of oil fuel which necessitated an increasing need for gasoline and diesel supplies; this also led to increased production at State Highway 108 refinery west of town across state lines
