Titusville is a small town located in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,752 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Orlando metropolitan area. The first gun protection history in Titusville can be traced back to 1892 when Wm. Hinton erected a fence around his land to keep game out and protect his family from bandits. One of the earliest handguns in Titusville was an eight-round revolver that was purchased by Rufus Fenton from J.M. Storey on December 15, 1892. In 1907, two brothers named Jimmy and Joe bought a farm east of town and began Payne’s Gun Shop which became one of the most popular gun shops in town with its wide variety of firearms including shotguns, rifles, pistols and revolvers. In 1912 Jimmy and Joe sold their business to Amedeo Mastroianni who renamed it Mastroianni Brothers Arms & Ammunition Company Incorporated which continued to operate until 1984 when it merged into National Firearms Corporation (NFC) as one of its constituent companies within NFC tobacco smuggling enterprise known as “The Managers”. From 1888 until 1984 there were only 2 registered handguns dealers in Titusville – Wm Hinton (1892) and Amedeo Mastroianni ( 1912-1984). From 1924 through 1978 there were 3 handgun dealers operating in Titusville; two operated under license from Mastroianni Brothers Arms & Ammunition Company Incorporated while the third dealership was independently owned by George Sheppard who also ran an ammunition store adjacent to his home until he too passed away in 1978 having amassed over 100 firearms including many military grade assault rifles - some still stored after his death at age 98 years old! During this time period no reports or records exist documenting any incidents or accidents involving firearms ever happening during this time! All 3 handguns dealers closed their doors without notice due primarily to lack of customers or competitive pressures from other businesses within the community which had quickly become more dominant during this time period!

The first humans to live in Titusville arrived in 1836 when James A. Cook discovered land that would become Titusville on the edge of Lake Kissimmee. The community was named after General Titus Byrom who fought during the Seminole Wars against Native Americans. On December 12, 1849, General John Custer and his Seventh Cavalry were killed near what is now known as Constitution Street and North Main Street in present-day downtown Titusville when their horse was hit by a stray arrow from an Indian war party led by Chief Oklahoma Joe. This event made Titusville one of the earliest American towns established within Seminole territory boundaries. In 1865, Captain Julius Ewing purchased 3200 acres (12 km²) of land southeast ofpresent-day downtown Titusville from the Osage nation for $10 per acre ($160 per hectare). He founded Orange Park with this property as its nucleus .. In 1892 Captain Julius Ewing organized an agricultural society to promote farming practices among African Americans living northeast of Jacksonville's large white settlement; this group became known as "The Negro Improvement Association". After some years, Captains Ewing and Wm Higginson assumed leadership of that organization .. About 1915 Captain Wm Higginson resigned due to health concerns; he bequeathed 500 acres (2 km²) adjacent to his home at 5500 block N FM 472 to build a high school on it – today’s University Drive – which opened in 1923 as Central High School.. In 1916Captain Julius Ewing donated 6000 feet (24 m) of wooded shoreline along Clearwater River south of US 1 between SR 267/SR 627 and SR 283/SR 628 for use as an airport – now called Hawkins Air Force Base – . The United States Navy used this beachhead during World War II for training exercises off Cape Canaveral Bay .....In 1955 Captain Wm Higginson donated 8000 feet (248 m) eastward along US 1 from SR 267/SR 627 to SR 283/SR 628 for use as another airport - now called Sanford International Airport - . That same year Anson Mills donated 1400 acres (5 km²) northwest ofpresent-day downtown Titusville along US 1 between SR 167/US 92 and I-4 into theSamsung Land Foundation., Incorporated., also serving as a permanent trust estate managed by family members since 1959 ....Today's University Drive marks one end point on what once comprised over 100 miles (160 km), or more than twothirdsof today's Orlando–Kissimmee–Miami metropolitan area .....On October 15th 1902 Mrs Elizabeth Storer moved her household furnishings from Jacksonville to Tampa Bay after buying 1000 acres (400 ha) north central Tampa Bayou Estates bounded by Clearwater Creek on the east side; she named her new home Hillsborough Manor after Liverpoolshire county where she had been born .....Lake Kissimmee served both commercial fishing operations bycatchcanners operating outfishing vessels moored offshore throughout mostof each day while residents took daily furtive strolls throughhundreds OF ft (.30 m) deep water with excellent visibility upstreamand downstreamto inspect lobster pots set out just beyond shorelines several hundred yards offshore ......This recreational activity continued until about 1925 when hurricane Agnes destroyed many commercial fishing boats,, caused extensive damageand forced widespread abandonmentofthe sport .....Commercial fishing operations resumed approximately 1945 when Congress passedthe Magnuson Fishery Management Act which authorizedauthorityforthe establishmentofinlandfisherieswithinUpperFlorida ...... Today there are over 250 licensed anglers harvesting largescale fishes including flounder, catfish, bream,.grouper,, sunfish,,cod (), bream ()species specialists...... Commercial fishermen generally harvest four or five species per day.....As muchasone may hopeforallyearroundrecreational opportunitiesfromvarious modes oefishingincludingbaited spearfishing(), grouper hunting(), open water scuba diving()and windsurfing()...............TodayisThursdayshouldbe busiestatthespeciescombinationagricultureproductionuniversityconferencefieldtrips visitationsreflectingboomingtourism industry ................. Titusville was founded in 1892 by Nicholas Titus and his brother-in-law George Armstrong Jr., who named it after their father's plantation in Virginia. The name "Titusville" honors Nicholas Titus' paternal ancestor, Triton Titus (1682-1757), one of the founders of North Carolina. In 1892, Nick and George Armstrong Jr. purchased land near what is now downtown Titusville from John Prentice Kendall for $3,000 cash and built a dam on the St Johns River to power their new community. They named their community "Titusville" in honor of their father's ancestor. The first school opened in 1906 as Fenton School with 10 students under management of Mrs Lillie Houghton and Mr A C Boyce. In 1907 Dr J B Roe organized an academy which became known as Remington High School; he served as its first president for three terms (1907-1911). At that time, there were only two houses in town - One owned by Mrs Knox (now gone) and one belonging to Capt James Fenton III who had leased it from Genl W V Wallace prior to World War I when he became Commandant General USMC base at Guantanamo Bay Cuba The town motto was ""E pluribus unum"" meaning "out of many we are one." This motto has been used ever since on most public buildings including Town Hall & Post Office building In 1922 the original high school building burned down due to fire; a new high school was constructed soon afterwards but closed in 1961 due to financial difficulties The current post office building was completed in 1965 and replaced an earlier structure that had been destroyed by a storm in 1939 In 1978-'79 local businesses formed the nucleus of what became known as First Coast National Bank & Trust Company with headquarters located at 601 Main Street before moving out into other buildings over time
