By 1934, Giddings had ceased operations due to economic difficulties brought on by increased competition from Winchester Repeating Arms Company (Winchester), Browning Arms Company (Browning), Ruger Firearms Manufacturing Inc., Remington Arms Corporation (Remington), Savage Arms Manufacturing Company (Savage), and finally Colt Firearms ManufacturingCompany Ltd.(Colt). One reason why Giddings' production might have stopped is because it was not able to compete with products being produced by those aforementioned companies at a much lower cost per unit. However, there are indications that this may not be an accurate statement as Wmfords rifle production increased significantly between 1933-1935 while Giddings' declined moderately between 1922-1934 despite resumed production in 1935 when new regulations were put into place following World War II ushered in an arms race between America's two main allies: Europe and Japan
