Titusville is a small town in Volusia County, Florida, United States. The population was 7,474 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Daytona Beach–Fort Myers metropolitan area. The name "Titusville" comes from the Seminole word "tituba," meaning "a very old man." The first binoculars were developed in Titusville by John Morse and his son-in-law Amos Stroud in 1837. They used glass lenses to view objects up close. At that time, there were no television or electronic devices and only a few radios. In 1846, Rufus King started manufacturing binoculars in Titusville with his brother-in-law George Catlett as clerk and head designer. After World War II, many businesses moved out of Titusville due to its lack of economic opportunities. However, some continue to operate today including Catlett's son Rufus King III and grandson Rufus King Jr.. During the late 1800s and early 1900s, Titusville increased its production of clocks because it became an important stop on the Underground Railroad during the American Civil War. clockmakers made their living by selling watches to abolitionists who needed them for timing purposes during the war effort; however, since most people could not afford watches they were turned into beads or other items for sale at market prices at local stores near where they were found

Polk, the 20th president of the United States and one of their main supporters during Reconstruction following the American Civil War. In 1881, an internal combustion engine was invented by George Stephenson and developed into a commercially successful car company called Stephenson Motors Corporation. This led to development of a large manufacturing plant that employed up to 2,000 people until it closed in 1957 due to economic conditions. The town's only other industry before 1957 was agriculture until it began receiving investment from businesses such as Verizon Wireless and Samsung Electronics starting in 2007 which has led to new development including restaurants and more housing being built throughout the past few years making Titusville one of fastest growing towns within Polk County. Today, there are many businesses that have opened up throughout downtown such as Hooters Grill & Brewery (the first restaurant), Noodle Prince (a Chinese restaurant), Joe's Pizza (Pizza Hut), Subway sandwich shop and several others as well as many small businesses that have been thriving for years without much competition since downtown has seen so much growth over the years thanks to these companies alone. There are also several parks within walking distance like Oneonta Park Soccer Complex where children can play soccer, Tucker Lake Park with fishing available both day or overnight or even longer if you're interested in kayaking or canoeing; Chiquita Landfill next door which used to be an open-air shopping mall before they made changes that allowed grocery stores inside while keeping parts of it open outside so there's still some retail space left; Pompano Beach Jeep Safari where visitors can buy tickets online or go along with a group and tour various bars/restaurants along I-95 depending on what type of jeep they want; plus several others scattered around town like First Baptist Church with their high school fields close by for parents dropoff/pickup time if needed while churches are occasionally hosting events such as worship services or fundraisers for charities just about every week now especially given how popular things have become downtown over recent years

The town was founded in 1885 by Augustus Titus, who named it for his father-in-law, Lucius Cassius Longinus Titus. The first post office was established in 1886. In 1903, Titusville incorporated as a town under the name of Jacksonville. In 1912, the name changed to Titusville after Augustus' brother-in-law John A. Titus donated land for a municipal park that would become known as "Titus Park." In 1920, a water tower and pipeline were built to provide drinking water for Titusville and nearby communities; however, this project failed due to financial difficulties. By 1923, phosphate mining operations had commenced in neighboring Union City and caused heavy traffic congestion on I-95 between Jacksonville and Union City; accordingly, the city of Jacksonville purchased two miles (3 km) of highway from Titusville so that traffic could be moved around without having to stop at intersections or switch lanes. Since then, much development has taken place in downtown Titusville with new restaurants/cafes/stores opening up all along Main Street while also adding new homes since there's always something happening here! Some old favorites include The Depot which closed down but reopened under new ownership soon afterwards; Juke Joints which have been around since they first opened up back when they were just juke joints - you can find them all over central Titusville! Titusville was founded in 1884 by George Armstrong Custer and his family as a small farming community on the edge of what is now Tampa Bay. In 1898, during the Spanish–American War, Custer's cavalry unit fought against American forces at Palo Alto Creek and Battle of Santiago Hill. In 1906, Titusville became an incorporated city with a population of 613. It annexed adjacent unincorporated communities of Clearwater Beach and Dunedin in 1909. The city continued to thrive until the Great Depression hit in 1929; however, during World War II it grew rapidly due to its proximity to Fort Myers Naval Base and other military installations. As part of the Everglades National Park System designation in 1956, Titusville became one of five urban areas within park boundaries.
