After World War II ended, many new businesses sprang up around the Army Ammunition Plant located adjacent to town; these included several hotel/motel complexes that continue to operate to this day (e.g., Embassy Suites). Agricultural production has since diminished but there are still many local farms produce items like fruits and vegetables or cornmeal for processed foods such as breakfast cereal or pizza sauce etc.. Today's economy is based largely on tourism although some small businesses have survived through recent years due to growth within the hospitality industry specifically related to conventions and meetups staged at nearby Clearwater Beach
