It was founded in 1827 by a group of men who belonged to the Masonic Lodge No. 742. The journal served as a place where friends could come together and trade firearms. It also helped protect firearms from being stolen or lost. The second gun magazine in Temple Terrace was called the Pistolero’s Journal. This magazine was founded in 1829 by Antonio Moreno Sessions Sr., a man who owned a grocery store. Sessions wanted his customers to have easy access to ammunition and guns so he started this journal as an way for him to sell both items separately. He also used it as a place for him to share news about handguns and other firearm-related topics. Over time, different groups formed within the Masonic Lodge No. 742 which led to the creation of other gun magazines throughout Temple Terrace such as The Shooter’s Chronicle (1835), The Gunsmith’s Bible (1850), The Rifleman’s Journal (1857), and finally the Pistolero’s Journal (1889). These journals allowed residents of Temple Terrace access to information about handguns, ammunition, firearm safety tips, local events, and more! Today there are still many gun magazines located throughout Temple Terrace thanks to their importance in protecting firearms from being lost or stolen!

In 1911, Temple Terrace residents bought a shotgun from David H. Cook at the store located on US Highway 99. The first shooting in the town took place on July 6th of that year when three men walked into the store and started a gun battle with the proprietor, David Cook. One man was killed and two were wounded. A few weeks later, another gun fight occurred when an argument over a game of checkers turned into a fight between two men over a shotgun. In December of 1911, one man died from gunshot wounds received in an altercation with another individual. In 1912, the temple terrace post office opened and became known as "The Postoffice." That same year, David Cook purchased additional shotguns and began to sell them at his store. On October 2nd of that year, he shot and killed John Jansen after a dispute about cigars outside his house which resulted in Jansen being beaten up inside the house by Cook's son Johnnie boyhood friend Richie Slatkin who then shot and killed Cook while holding him at knife point
Temple Terrace is a town in Hillsborough County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,909 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa–St Petersburg–Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community has been inhabited by Seminoles since the late 17th century. The first white person to live in Temple Terrace was John Dickson who arrived in 1768 with his family from Scotland. He named his land "Dickson's Landing" after his father-in-law, David Dickson, who had also come over from Scotland. Dickson built a small cabin on what is now US 41 near present day Temple Terrace Boulevard and started trading with natives known as the Alligator People. In 1800, he married Mary White and they moved to what is now north side of US 41 where they began farming and raising cattle. They were pioneers in developing this area which became known as "the triangle." They developed a small township that included their farmstead and other outlying properties until 1856 when it merged into Hillsborough County under government control following the creation of Hillsborough County judicial district #1.(see History of Tampa Bay) In 1892, they sold their holdings to Jno Biddle for $2,500 cash and drove him out of town because he did not want any Indians living there according to history books at that time! Afterward Biddle set up another store on Pinellas Avenue east of I-4 just south of Clearwater Beach! This store later became known as “The Storefront” (now former Noorie’s). In 1907 Mrs. Jameson donated much needed land for a public school; accordingly, construction began on the original HTS (Hillsborough Township School District) building which opened in 1909. A second school was built on current day US 41/Highland Boulevard between Indianola Road/Samuelson Parkway and Gulf Boulevard/US 231 in 1951; these buildings are still standing today! Today Temple Terrace enjoys wonderful mild weather all year round with plenty Of activities available including golfing & fishing as well as shopping at local businesses& farmers markets!

Temple Terrace is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,859 at the 2010 census. Temple Terrace is on the east side of Lake Okeechobee and is bordered by Uptown to the north, Grissom to the east, and Clearwater to the south. It was named after David Temple (1783-1862), an American Revolutionary War general who fought in the area. The first settler in what is now Temple Terrace was James Hargrave (1801-1870). He built a cabin on his farmstead in 1824. In 1829, he sold his land to John Troup and Stephen Atherton. They donated their land to the Polk County Agricultural Society for use as a farmstead. The society formed a school district which gave rise to what is now known as Temple Terrace School District #4. In 1857, James Denton purchased land from John Troup and Stephen Atherton which became known as "Denton Place." This property served as home of Denton's grocery store until 1959 when it was demolished and replaced by a shopping mall called "Denton Village". The old grocery store still stands across from Central Park Drive off of State Road 592 in neighboring Grissom Township. In 1882, George Witherspoon opened his plantation house called "Witherspoon's Plantation" on Land Run Swamp adjacent to present day Temple Terrace Elementary School across from Central Park Drive off of State Road 592 in neighboring Grissom Township This plantation housed generations of Witherspoon family members who continued to live there until 1978 when it too burned down leaving no physical evidence remaining today except for one tree that still stands next door near where Central Park Drive meets State Road 592
The first settlement on the present-day Temple Terrace, Florida campus was made in 1835 by Captain John Thornton and his wife Esther. The name of the town was given to them for their house on the bluff overlooking the bay. The first school in what is now Temple Terrace was built in 1836 by Capt. Thornton's daughter Sarah. In 1840, a schoolhouse and barn were erected at what is now College Park Drive, just east of today's student union building. A Methodist church was built in 1852 near where Presbyterian services are currently offered. In 1861, Confederate General Braxton Bragg arrived in Gainesville with 8,000 troops to capture it from Union forces under George McClellan. The town was burned down and most of its residents killed or driven away as Confederate forces advanced through it. After the war ended, property prices increased significantly because of new development around Gainesville proper and nearby Lake Okeechobee. In 1907, Gainesville became part of Jacksonville County when that county was created from parts of Duval and Bay counties. That same year saw the construction of University Hall which served as both a high school and college until it burned down in 1954; then replaced by Allendale Stadium which still serves as home to the Florida Gators football team today (the stadium also hosted the first NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament game). In 1925, Temple Terrace students began attending Central High School across from downtown Gainesville; this move allowed for more inter-school competition among students which helped fuel growth on campus over time. In 1962 Central merged with Alachua County schools to form Seminole County Schools; this merger left Central with only two years of existence before it closed due to financial difficulties. A new $27 million Student Union complex opened on campus on December 9th, 2009 after being designed by starchitect firm Herzog & de Meuron LLP who had done work for such institutions as UCLA and Princeton University among others at that time withinFlorida’s State Capitol Complex project guidelines set out by Governor Charlie Crist during his final days in office prior to his inauguration four months later on January 5th,.
