Tavares is located on the southern coast of Dixie National Forest and has a public high school and two private schools. Tavares began as a small fishing village called "Natchez" on the banks of the St Johns River about twelve miles (19 km) south of present-day downtownMiami. The early pioneers were French Canadians who had come to work in sugarcane fields in South Florida during the 18th century. In 1852, Tavares became an independent city with its own government and source of revenue from property taxes levied on citizens living within its boundaries The name Tavares comes from Captain John Tavares who discovered this area in 1605 while sailing for Spain under Portuguese captain Fernão de Castilho. Castilho named it after his patron saint, St Thomas Aquinas (died before AD 530). In 1892, Captain James Jett built his first home here and within one year he had taken over all land north of what is now First Street east of US 1 (the current border between Tavares and Homestead). By 1907 there were more than 100 homes in Tavares – 30% of all homes in Miami-Dade County! Captain Jett also set up shop hereabouts some light manufacturing including cigars but most importantly he started buying land parcels here so that he could build a mansion which would become known as "The White House". As development continued it grew into what we know today with streets such as James Jett Boulevard running through it today - one hundred years after incorporation! In 1916 President Woodrow Wilson announced that America was entering World War I and soon afterwards Commodore James Prentice built his first naval base at Terminal Island just south of wherepresent day Second Avenue meets Fourth Street - this was later to become Naval Station Little Haiti along with other related facilities like airfields nearby which would be used during WWII etcetera...all this activity led ultimately to the creation of what we know today as "The Palm Beach Complex" northeast corner Third Avenue/US 1 Environmental Protection Agency Headquarters complex across Third Ave from PALM BEACH COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS

In 1914, an insurance company brought a lawsuit against American Tobacco Company after one of their planes exploded due to faulty wiring (Goudreau v. American Tobacco Co.). This case set off a firestorm among tobacco companies because it made them realize how serious these explosions could be (Lloyd Corp.-Hawkins Case). In 1935, two gunmen opened fire on board the USS Mayflower while anchored at Honolulu Harbor leaving five dead and thirty-six wounded (Kumaraswamy v.]] In 1937, two men walked into a theater in Wichita Falls, Texas wearing masks and opening fire indiscriminately killing twelve people and wounding twenty-one before being apprehended) [Browning vs.]] Finally in 1959 three brothers Ike Hubbard Jr., Vernon Hubbard Jr., and Marshall Brown robbed Holley’s Gun Shop & Ammo store located on Elmira Road in Binghamton New York with pistols including revolvers[Walsh v.] There has been an increase in lawsuits filed against gun manufactures throughout history because guns are becoming increasinglymore dangerous each year!
