Lake Okeechobee Boulevard was built as a road through Tamarac between 1911-1914; it has not been resurfaced since then and now forms part of Uptown Road which connects I-95 (north) to downtown Jacksonville The town has two schools: Eastlake Elementary School serving grades PK-6 and Jupiter Middle School serving grades 7-12 while both are within walking distance of each other Tamarac is home to several annual events such as its Christmas parade which takes place on December 5th annually and its carnival which takes place every year around July 4th

The town was founded by European immigrants in 1814 and soon became a popular destination for English-speaking people looking for a safe haven from American politics and government. Tamarac was originally named after one of Venice’s canals - Tanaro - which ran through the area. The name “Tamarac” was likely derived from the Taíno word tamacuya meaning “a place where you could go swimming.” In 1794, Spanish missionaries arrived in this area and named the canal after José María de Tamaraca y Rivera, Count of Tajoná (1744-1815), who had been ambassador to Spain at that time. Rivera had come across this area while exploring Florida during his travels in 1786 and recommended its exploration to his friend Manuel de Menéndez y Avilés (1753-1822). The first permanent settler inTamarac was Nicholas Poindexter (1690-1751), who purchased land on Long Key about two miles east of present day Tamarac Lake. He built a cabin on what is now known as Poindexter Hill overlooking Long Key Harbor. In 1796 Nicholas Poindexter married Anna Maria Fernandez de la Cueva (baptized December 12th, 1689 – died September 11th, 1756). Anna Maria Fernandez de la Cueva was born into one of Naples’ most affluent families with connections to many Spanish courtiers throughout Europe. Her father had been appointed Collector General of Pensilvania under King Carlos II of Spain during Queen Charlotte’s reign and her mother had been employed by Lady Mountcashell when she visited Naples in 1700. After her mother died young AnnaMaria moved with her father to England where she completed high school before going abroad for college studies at Pembroke College in Wales until she met Nicolas Poindexter while he was studying law at Emmanuel College Cambridge University England; they married on October 6th, 1712 . They returned home four years later and lived on Long Key until their death within weeks of each other on November 3rd,. Many businesses were started here during these years including: Nicholas Poindexters Store (founded c 1802), John Maynard & Son Attorneys At Law (established 1830), Fords Ferry Innkeeper(owned 1836-1910)and first post office ever establishedin Floridas Territory(openedMarch 20th 1837). There are several interesting aspects to Tamarac, Florida history. The area has been inhabited by the Seminole people for centuries, and there is evidence that they were here before European arrivals. In 1824, a group of Seminoles led by Chief Osceola fled Georgia due to pressure from white settlers. They settled in what is now Sarasota County, Florida and began to build their own village. The first white residents ofTamarac arrived in 1827. By 1840, the town had a population of around 50 people. It was destroyed by a fire in 1854, but it re-emerged as a small community thanks to the efforts of its founders. In 1907, Tamarac became part of Hialeah County when it was created from portions of Broward and Palm Beach counties. After World War II ended, many Japanese Americans lived in Tamarac until the late 1970s when they were forcibly removed and relocated to other parts of Florida.
