Mayo used this property as his main residence and estates until his death in 1928. In 1916 he donated one acre of land near present day Spring Lake Drive to become home to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church which still operates today under new ownership and management with services provided by volunteers In 1924 Drury opened Stonington Pharmacy which became an important source of medical supplies for residents of nearby Palm Beach County until it closed its doors in 1986 due to competition from larger stores). On October 17th 1950 Broadway Avenue which runs through downtown Tamarac intersected US 1 close to present day Spring Lake Drive giving rise to what is now known as State Road 518 (later Sunrise Boulevard) across Grant Park between Broadway Avenue east of SR 518 & Seventh Street north of SR 518 . Development along SR 518 continued sporadically with several small businesses opening up around State Road 518 before becoming an arterial road when it was extended westward into Miami Dade County .
