In 1849-50, Colonel William Booth built a small school on North College Street which became known as Fort Brooke School after him. In 1850-51, Colonel Booth also founded the Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical College (now Auburn University) at what is now Ashford Road and Federal Boulevard in downtown TallahasaSE/. The early settlers did not have any kind of infrastructure or resources so they had to rely on hunting and gathering methods to survive until they could build something more permanent such as homes or businesses hereabouts. It wasn't until 1865 when Drury & Sons hardware store opened up next door to present day State House Square that things started changing for the better for these new arrivals who were startingupeconomically back then because there was some trade with Cuba going on at that time! Today many people still remember those early days here when there wasn't any air conditioning or electricity so visitors would often get heaters if they went outside during summertime! On October 15th 1861 Congressman James Buchanan called out all UBS employees into service during America's Civil War because their banknotes were being used by Confederate sympathizers! This decision changed forever how much money Americans trusted their banks and paved way for our modern banking system! Afterward UBS reopened but only conducted business online due to regulations put into place afterwards by newly appointed President Abraham Lincoln!
