After World War II ended there was steady growth until the early 1970s when automation began taking over many manufacturing jobs throughout America which led to layoffs and economic decline in Tallahasauee over that period culminating with a 20% decrease in workforce size between 1990-2000 alone according to 2000 Census statistics.
