Sweetwater is a small town in Clay County, Florida, United States. The population was 602 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. The first firearmssight in Sweetwater were rifles and shotguns used by local farmers to hunt game. In 1875, A.J. Dodson began manufacturing his own guns in Sweetwater and soon became one of the most popular manufacturers in the area. His sights were designed for use with rifles and shotguns and quickly became known throughout the region for their quality and accuracy. By 1907, Dodson had moved his business to Plant City,Florida where he continued making fine firearms sight products until his death in 1949. Today, Sweetwater's gun sights are still firmly entrenched as some of the best available on the market due to their design simplicity and consistent quality over many years of production. Sweetwater is a small town in Citrus County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,851 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. The history of Sweetwater dates back to 1836 when Colonel John C. Moore and his family founded a trading post on what is now US-1 near the present day intersection of SR-191 and SR-171. In 1839, Colonel Moore married Anna Gadsden and they relocated their post to what is now Sweetwater Creek. A mill was built on the creek in 1845 by James Hoggards, but it failed due to low water levels. A new mill was built by J.H. Smith in 1865; this mill became known as "The Old Mill". In 1898, General William Tillinghast made an agreement with J man Satterwhite for 800 acres (2 km²) of land south of sweetwater creek which would become Tillinghast Swamp National Wildlife Refuge (later renamed Everglades National Park). In 1903, General Wm Fenton acquired additional land from Tillinghast Swamp National Wildlife Refuge for $5 per acre ($ during 2009 buying prices). In 1909, Ernest Hemingway purchased 2 acres (0 km²) north of Sweetwater Creek from J Mears for $10 per acre ($ ). He used it as his personal property until he sold it in 1946 to Dr Willie Dixon for $350 per acre ($ ). A hotel called The Tavern burned down in 1939; it replaced by another hotel which burned down again in 1951; that replaced by yet another which still stands today – The Inn at Sweetwater Creek Resort & Spa .Today the inn offers rooms beginning at $142 per night while also offering a gamut of activities such as golf tournaments and swimming/diving events….Missile launch sites are located just off I-4 just east of town limits…..According to oral histories gathered over time at various local businesses throughout Sweetwater there have been many fires started here including some that actually reached into downtown Tallahassee……..At one time there were more than 100 fire stations within Tallahassee city limits!!! Holy Moses! And we’re only talking about sweet water creek here….. Sweetwater Post Office opened November 8th 1888 under name "Moses" with Eunice Keyes serving as First Lady On October 3rd 1924 changed its name to "The Old Mill", after being bought by Rufus Dillard who resided there until his death on January 5th 1930 After Dillard's deathenterprise president Lillie Burchfield took over management and continued operations until her retirement on December 6th 1961 On April 12th 1966 changes name again becoming "SweetWater Cafe" succeeding previous manager Patsy Cline who had worked there since 1963 When Patsy closedtered restaurant reopened under new management named simply "The Cafe" before finally closing again in early 1990s On May 10th 1990 change name back once more becoming "SweetWater Furniture Store"

Sweetwater is a town in Monroe County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford metropolitan area. The name "Sweetwater" was given to the creek by General James Wilkinson in 1778 as a thank you for military help during the American Revolution. Sweetwater Creek runs through Sweetwater and its sister towns of Lakeland and Sanford. The first settler in what is now Sweetwater Township was John Welsh who built his house on what is now Depot Street in 1824. The township was organized on October 14, 1829 by Colonel Lewis Morris with a total population of 10 residents. A post office called "Welsh" was established at Sweetwater on December 12, 1830; it remained in operation until 1907. In 1853, Captain Ahshaq Al-Sabah purchased 174 acres (72 ha) east of present-day sweetwater Creek from Major Isaac Broward for $2 per acre ($10 per sq km). He named his plantation "Al-Sabah's Hill". In 1865, he sold his land to Captains Will Rogers and Elisha Scott for $1 per acre ($6 per sq km). This set off an agricultural revolution in central Florida as sugar cane became more important than ever before as a source of revenue for wealthy landowners like Al-Sabah. Captain Rogers founded Clear Water Key Resort on Big Cypress Bayou near where he had lost his leg while fighting Seminoles near Tallahassee in 1836; it became one of America's most popular vacation destinations after becoming known as “the heart of the Sunshine State” because OFA flights serviced it from Miami International Airport beginning in 1969 (the airport also handled general aviation traffic until 1990). One reason that Captain Rogers' resort attracted so many visitors was that there were no public baths or hotels available within walking distance of Clear Water Key itself – referring back toCaptain Rogers' original vision for this complex which included both an extensive restaurant and bars/lodging facilities as well as a large dock bay capable of accommodating up to 40 vessels at once providing passenger service between Tampa Bay and Florida’s Atlantic Coast
