The Smith brothers started their business with a fewitems: pistols and rifles, all made from US made materials and featuring patriotic designs. They quickly realized that they had something special on their hands when they began seeing apparel emblazoned with terms like “gun lover” or “proud NRA member” being worn by people throughout Miami-Dade County (the surrounding area). In 1992, the Smith brothers decided to open a second store in West Palm Beach which became known as the Gun Show Mall location because it was where gun shows were held every month during early 1990s. He set up a pistol manufacturing business called “The Arsenal” which still operates today within the boundaries of his property. South Miami, Florida is a city located in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The population was 144,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami–Fort Lauderdale–Pompano Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area. South Miami is bordered by Biscayne Bay to the east and southeast, Plantation Key to the north and west, Kendall Park to the northwest, and DowntownMiami (the business district) to the south. The area that would become South Miami was first settled by Africans in 1820 as part of what is now Overtown neighborhood on Dadeland Avenue. In 1875, General James Swayne purchased land for what would become known as Indian Hill Country on Biscayne Boulevard between Northwest First Street and Northwest Second Street from Pedro Menéndez de Avilés y Crespo who had bought it from Tequesta Indians. By 1888, citrus production began here with Hugel Brothers truckloads of oranges arriving daily at Pompano Beach Pier for export across Narragansett Bay. In 1925 West Palm Beach developer Alfred Pacheco acquired title to 1/3 of all present-day SouthMiami Lots in condemnation of cypress trees growing on lots adjoining his home at 8561 Collins Avenue which he planned to use as a golf course; however no golf course ever materialized because of World War II bombing raids which destroyed most homes in downtown WPB…. In 1957 Sunland Properties Corporation built an artificial reef called “The Fountains” off SW 7th Ave., directly across from North Shore Drive beachfront property then owned by Sunland’s late father-in-law Harvey Wexler….. The city annexed much of adjacent unincorporated Broward County in 1959 bringing development closer to center while preserving some rural character; this annexation also created a new civic center near NW 6th St./Northwest Seventh Ave., south of I-95 expansion project entrance…….. Recently renovated areas include: Midtown Center Mall – anchored by Sears and JCPenney – replacing defunct Macy’s location on NW 3rd Ave.; Art Deco style building at NE 116th St./Evelyn Plater Road ( demolished ); upscale condominium tower complex with restaurants etc., called Omni South Side at NE 115th St./Evelyn Plater Rd.; reopening of downtown shopping mall following major renovation including new anchor stores such as Macy’s department store ( closed ground floor since 1990 ), Sears (& JCPenney), Kmart & Toys R Us combination store openings resulting in increased traffic thru DowntownMI; largest collection indoor/Outdoor Gulfstream GTS showroom facility open year round inside large convention center…. South Miami has been one continuous community since its founding until 1959 when it became part of Broward County

The economy of South Miami was based on sugar cane farming and fishing; however, many businesses closed during the Great Depression because of lack of money. In the early 1990s, SouthMiami began to experience rapid growth as a result of new development around the area including jobs in information technology and real estate.
