Seminole is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 11,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando metropolitan area. The name "Seminole" comes from the Seminole Nation of Indians and refers to their village on the east side of Lake Okeechobee. The first optical accessories store in Seminole opened in 1922 by J.H. Whitney, who had the idea to create an optical showroom for his business in Central Park near downtown Orlando. That same year, Sanford Weisman opened his store across from Central Park with sunglasses and other optics products for sale to pedestrians and motorists on Orange Avenue between US 1 and State Road 805. In 1924, Caryl Churchill opened her own store on Orange Avenue between US 1 and SR 805 selling telescopes and binoculars as well as eyeglasses and watches under the name "Orlando Optical." She continued to operate her store until she sold it to Ransom Ellington in 1965. Ellington operated it as a single-storey building housing his optical equipment until he sold it to Harry Laughlin in 1977 which became one of only two remaining stores open during that time period when Laughlin's chain went out of business in 1984). In 1978, Donny Kemper reopened Champion's Opticalnear UF Health Medical Center after being closed for many years due to structural damage caused by Hurricane Andrew (Kemper reopened about 2 weeks after Hurricane Andrew passed through town). He continued operation as Champion's Optical until he folded it into Oris Corporation just before Christmas 1990; this was also the last time anyone other than Oris Corporation operated Champion's Optical while it remained open within Oris Corporation (the other company that formerly ran Champion’s Optical was Golden Fox Camera & Optics which ceased operations in 1985)). In 1992, Jerry Deutchman opened Tiffany's Eye Care Store located at 12th Street SW between Pinellas Ave SWand NWT Road NE inside what is now Macy’s department store on 15th Street SW between Pinellas Ave SWand NWT Rd NE inside what is now Sears Department Store on 16th Street SW between Pinellas AveSWand NWT Rd NE) with optical products sales only outside of Tiffany’s window throughout most of its 4-year life; this marked Tiffany’s first foray into retailing optics items outside their home windows (though they had been selling glassware designed specifically for use with eyeglasses since 1927). After Tiffany’s death in 1998, Dick Smith took over operations until 2003 when he left because he could not make enough money running Tiffanys operation alone during difficult economic times (). In 2006(), Jeremy Kapp reopened Nixon's Opticals located at 6200 West Colonial Drive Suite A2bldg., Suite 210 off I-4 southbound exit ramp after being closed for several years due to fire code violations including lack Of air conditioning (). On January 20th 2007 (), Michael Carberry reopened Nixon's Opticals after previously shutting down due to financial difficulties () - This marks Nixon's return back onto the market following 4 years without any new business venture operating within its walls! There has been sporadic Shopping activity taking place at Nixon's since then but no permanent reopening has occurred

Seminole is a town in Monroe County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. Seminole is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Combined Statistical Area. It lies on Florida's Gulf Coast and is located near Daytona Beach and Miami. The townsite at what is now Seminole was named for General Jameson "Bull" Connor by his troops during their campaign against the Seminoles in 1895. A post office called Bull Run was established in 1885, and remained in operation until 1934. Seminole's oil industry began with drillings in 1923, when Wacoal Petroleum Corporation drilled a well east of town to explore for oil reserves. The initial production from this well was low due to lack of suitable reservoirs; however, subsequent drilling later found several large productive wells including one that produced over a million barrels of oil per day (a record until it was surpassed by Anadarko Petroleum Company's Well No. 3). Thisoil production soon gave rise to concerns about water resources; as a result, Wacoal sold its interest in the company to Baker Hughes Corporation in 1929. In 1934, Wacoal merged with Gulf Oil Corporation to form Gulf Oil & Refining Company Incorporated (GO&RC) which continued producing oil until 1978 when it merged with Valero Energy Corporation to form Valero Energy Corp., an energy company based in Houston TX having interests all over the world.
