Seminole is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,611 at the 2010 census. Seminole is part of the Tampa-St Petersburg-Clearwater metropolitan area and is included in the Jacksonville–Pompano Beach-Boca Raton Combined Statistical Area. It is also included in the Florida State University Micropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Seminole" comes from an Oceania island group located to its north and east, while "Florida" refers to both of these islands as well as Toombs Island to the south. In 1907, A.D. Stephens purchase 3/4ths of a grant from the Choctaw Nation for $1,000 with intent to build a community on this land which he named after his friend Major General Andrew Hinkle who had helped lead American forces during the Creek War (1894-1895). In 1908 or 1909 Stephens started construction on what would become Seminole Village and opened it for registration in 1910. This first phase of development housed about 120 residents who rented rooms from private landlords or bought homes from Stephens himself. After only three years on site, Stephens sold all but 10 acres to J[ohn] W[illiams]. By 1914 almost two thirds of Seminole was owned by Americans through real estate companies such as Ellis & Company and Gorman Brothers Properties Incorporated which constructed schools, churches and other civic facilities including a movie theatre and swimming pool (the Sanford Pool), making it one of largest towns in Florida at that time. The post office opened at Seminole village on November 8th 1915 under license by Gorman Brothers Properties Incorporated; however mail service stopped operations due to World War I draftlessness regulations soon after hostilities ended on September 11th 1918 remodeling began shortly thereafter with razing of many old buildings begun within weeks following armistice Agreement formal cessation . . . New structures were erected quickly with frame lumber arriving from Georgia via Miami Lakes Railroad Yard just outside town limits; plans called for erection of 154 residences plus a school annexe later that year At first glance there appeared little change since building began: new frame lots arrived same days; few alterations done since initial expansion; single family dwellings predominant style However changes were coming form architecturally important sites – most visibly overpitched roofs typical for postwar housing developments becoming more common statewide – accommodating increased living space resulting not only from large families but also increasing access wind power potential thereby enhancing physical welfare [emphasis added]

Seminole, Florida is a small city in Martin County, Florida. The population was 2,689 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford metropolitan area. Seminole has been inhabited by Native American Seminoles since before European arrival. In the early 1800s, white settlers began to arrive in what is now Seminole County and founded a town called Fort Brooke on the junction of U.S. 1 and State Road 12 near modern-day Sanford. White traders soon established themselves here and developed speculative investments in land which they hoped would become a new British colony in North America or an American appendage of Spain's Hispanic empire during its time as both nations were vying for control over Cuba. During the Revolution, many Seminoles sided with Britain while others fought against revolutionary forces under General Andrew Jackson. Afterward, many of these men left Florida for lands west of the Mississippi River where they built settlements including Eustis (later Redington Beach) in 1835; Wakulla (later Wildwood), later Palm Beach; and Altamonte Springs (later Winter Park). By 1860 only about 50 Seminoles remained scattered throughout southeastern Florida living among various Creek tribes who had also relocated there following Henry Clay's efforts to negotiate tribal autonomy within newly acquired Texas territory – an effort that failed after Indian fighters destroyed polling stations along US 1 near Jacksonville in 1859 and again at Tallahassee four years later when Clay attempted to induced a treaty from them without their leaders' consent – leaving behind descendants numbering more than 20,000 living today primarily among Creek Nation members in Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Georgia
The Seminole people are a Native American tribe of Florida. The tribe was first settled in present-day Seminole County by the Creek Indians in the late 1700s. In 1821, the Seminoles were forced from their land and relocated to Indian Territory after an uprising against Spanish rule. They were removed from their current location in 1912 when parts of Florida were annexed into the United States. The Tribe still has traditional ceremonies and social practices that are closely related to those practiced by their ancestors.
